Railtown Celebrates Local Heroes.... “Red, White and Blue Day” at Railtown August 15th
JAMESTOWN, Calif. – On Saturday, August 15th, Railtown will celebrate the public safety personnel in our community. Representatives from many of our local police, fire, public lands and other emergency response agencies will be available from 11-3 pm. California State Parks’ Canine Handler Mike Gleckler and his patrol dog “Thor” will also make an appearance. Admission is free....
Throughout the day there will be many activities, including tours of the historic roundhouse and first-class service will be offered on our historic observation car, the 2901. Visitors are encouraged to come early and watch the locomotive being prepared for the day in the roundhouse, and transported to the main line by use of the historic turntable. Visitors arriving by 9:30 and viewing from the south side of the Roundhouse, should anticipate a good show.
In honor of the public safety personnel in our community, any person in service uniform (including scouts, military and any other public service volunteer or employee), will ride free.
Excursion Trains operate hourly from 11-3. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $3 for children, first class fares are double the regular fare.
