Love Me Timber! Fair Season Officially Started With Media Night! ~By John Hamilton Full Meeting Video Enclosed
Frogtown, CA...The 2009 Media Night was held at Frogtown last night. There were Saddle Queens and Beauty Queens, Frogs, Speeches, Awards and More. The Fair's Marketing Director Laurie Giannini moderated the festivities and went over the highlights of this year's fair with a video presentation to kick things off. This years theme is "Love Me Timber" and the fair will pay tribute to the local timber industry throughout the run. The community support behind the fair this year has been huge Many individuals and organizations have stepped up to the make this year to be what many feel will be the best Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee yet...
Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital and other sponsors were honored for their support of the Fair. MTSJ is should be noted is incredibly generous with their support for many, many organizations in the community including ThePineTree.net.
Altaville Melones Fire Department, CAL-FIRE, Calaveras County Sheriff's Department, MTSJ and many other groups and individuals were honored for their efforts at last years fair accident.
Success of the Jr. Fair Board this year necessitated their absence from this year's Media Night. With the Jr. Fair Board at 76 members they held a seperate dinner for them that had over 150 in attendance.
The Chamber of Commerce will also be raffleing off their over 4 once Gold Nugget. They will be selling 200 Tickets for Nugget that has a value of $12-14,000.
The Queen Contestants had it easier this year in the Frog Kissing Department. Instead of the traditional ritual of kissing the real amphibians they had the pleasure of kissing the gorgeous Chamber of Commerce Celebrated Frogs.
We have video of the entire meeting and quite a few pictures for your enjoyment.
