23 Year Old Female Drowns Near South Shore Lake Tulloch....Name Now Released
The name of the victim has been identified as 23 year old Alicia Marie Corral from Oakdale CA. An autopsy was performed and it was determined the cause of death was drowning.....On April, 17, 2009 at approximately 5:30 PM, Sheriff’s Office units were notified of a subject that fell into the canal near South Shore Lake Tulloch, west of Jamestown CA. Sheriff’s Patrol units and Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue were dispatched to the area. Notifications were also made to Stanislaus County Sheriff and Fire agencies. .....
During the investigation, they contacted a male subject that said he was swimming with a friend (unidentified 23 Y/O female). The female slipped into the canal and he attempted to help her get out, without success. He flagged down a citizen who was able to call for help.
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Units were assisted by Stanislaus County Sheriff’s units on the ground and by air. At approximately 7:30 PM The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Air Unit located the female in the canal, south of Hwy 120/108, near Wilms road. Oakdale Rural Fire Units were also summoned to the scene to assist. The female was declared deceased.
An autopsy is scheduled for the first part of next week. No foul play is suspected.
The name of the victim is to be released pending notifications of next of kin.
This is so tragic. May our deepest thoughts and prayers go to out to the family and friends of this young woman.
