Sutter Creek, CA – Amador County Public Health advises community members that because of smoke from the Butte Fire air quality may be unsafe. Those with chronic health conditions, young children, pregnant women and elderly adults should especially be aware and take protective measures.

Calaveras Unified School Closures Due To Butte Fire |

San Andrea, CA...Due to the fire off highway 26 and the resulting power outages, school will not be in session on Thursday at Mokelumne Hill, West Point, and Rail Road Flat Elementary Schools. Bus routes in those areas will not be operating so Toyon Middle School and Calaveras High School students from those areas will be impacted. We plan to resume operations Friday at those sites closed today.

Sonora, CA....Firefighters are making good progress on the Oak Fire. It has reached 50% containment. Let's hope that as temps heat up today the fire behaves. The first morning update is enclosed...

Butte Fire Now At 50 Acres Additional Resources Still Inbound |

Jackson, CA....Initial acreage reports have the Butte Fire at 50 acres. Smoke output is still on the rise so this will probably grown larger. Lots of resources on ground and air are working protecting threatened structures in the fire area and also trying to keep one of the two fires making up the Butte Fire from growing within the Mokelumne River Drainage.

Butte Fire Surges To 1,200 Acres |

Jackson/Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Butte Fire has surged to 1,200 acres and has Firefighters working hard in our area. Below is the latest from Calfire and below that is the latest on traffic from CHP. There are evacuations on both sides of the Modelumne river and Hwy 26 is closed from Hwy 49 on up to the Winton Road area. Thousands are without power. A fire information line has been set up at 209.754.5527

Sonora, CA....Firefighters and Law Enforcement personnel are working a structure & vegetation fire near Big Hill Road & Old Oak Ranch Road. Hard closures on Big Hill Road and law enforcement evacuating and estimated 250 vehicles. More to follow and fire updates are also on the traffic & fire feed on the right hand side of our front page...(Update as of 2:56pm...CHP is reporting traffic is backing up with residents seeking entrance into area to get belongings) (Update as of 3:46pm...Lisa Williams from TCU Command says "The fires have burned into one fire. 80 acres in size. There are two schools in the area. Old Oak Youth Ranch and Sierra Outdoor School. Evacuation has involved schools" More to follow...(Update as of 4:16pm..we just spoke with TCU's Nancy Longmore & Lisa Williams....one firefighter has been injured and the fire is now at 100 acres with one structure damaged. We are still at zero percent containment. and their first release with resources and additional details will be released soon... (Update as of 4:27pm...Oak Fire update #1. 100 acres, One firefighter injury, One Structure involved, 11 Engines, 1 Air Attack, 2 Air Tankers, 3 Water Tenders, 4 Fire Crews, 125 total personnel) (Update as of 6pm...OAK TCU Incident Update #2 Acres: 100, % Containment: 20%, Start Date and Time: September 8, 2015 1:23 p.m. Injuries: One firefighter injury – no further details, Structures Involved:, 1 residential structure and two outbuildings destroyed, Fire Engines:22 Bulldozers: 4, Water Tenders: 5, Fire Crews: 6, Air attack:1 Air tankers: 2, Helicopters:, Total Personnel: 196, Road Closures: Big Hill Road is closed from Hatler Mill to Bellview School. Downed Power Lines Spark West Point Area Fire |

West Point, CA......On August 30 quick work by ground and air units helped keep a fire in the 400 block of Higdon Spink Cutoff Road to 1/4 acre. Downed power lines sparked the fire that had the the fuel to grow. Additional details on the incident are below.

Attic Fire In Commercial Building Quickly Contained |

Groveland, CA...On August 30th at 11:18pm firefighters were dispatched to a fire in a commercial building on Hwy 120 in Groveland. There efforts kept the fire from spreading beyond the attic. PG&E was notified and the fire is still of an undetermined cause. Additional details on the incident are below.
