Changes In TCU Allowable Burn Hours With Permit

San Andreas, CA...Effective Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 8 a.m. burn hours will no longer be limited to the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Burning will be allowed, with a valid burn permit, during all hours on permissive burn days. It is your responsibility to check burn day status by calling your local Air Pollution Control District with jurisdiction over your area. Burn Permit Suspension Lifted - Hours Restricted

San Andreas – Effective Monday, November 9, 2015 at 8 a.m. the burn permit suspension in Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) of CAL FIRE will be lifted, which will affect State Responsibility Areas within Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. CAL FIRE TCU Unit Chief, Josh White, is formally cancelling the burn permit suspension and advises that those possessing current and valid residential burn permits can now resume burning on permissible burn days. Burning hours will be restricted to evening hours - 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Public Assistance Applicant Briefing in San Andreas On Wednesday

Sacramento, CA...The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services will conduct applicant briefings in Lakeport Monday and in San Andreas Wednesday to inform representatives of local government agencies and certain private nonprofits how to file requests for assistance with losses caused by the Butte and Valley fires in Lake and Calaveras counties.

Moore/Bellfour Understory Burn In Calaveras Ranger District Starts Oct. 28th

Bear Valley, CA...Ignition of the prescribed burn is expected to begin October 28th, 2015. The project will take 7 to 10 days to complete, with potential residual smoke in the area for 1-2 weeks after implementation. Burning is contingent on weather, fuel moisture, air quality, and resource availability. All burning is monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines. Burning is also closely coordinated with local county air quality control districts.

CalRecycle-Calaveras County Butte Fire Debris Removal Project

San Andreas, CA...Beginning Tuesday, September 29 th , the Calaveras County Environmental Management Agency
initiated efforts under the CalRecycle-Calaveras County Butte Fire Debris Removal Project. Two teams from the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) began to remove household hazardous waste and conduct asbestos assessment and sampling from residential properties in the areas affected by the Butte Fire. DTSC’s primary focus is to evaluate hazardous waste such as asbestos and remove hazardous waste such as paints, batteries, electronic wastes, and propane tanks under 30 gallons.

Fire Restrictions Lifted On The Stanislaus National Forest

Sonora, Calif. Oct. 08, 2015…Due to cooler, wetter weather and predictions of stable or cooling conditions into the future, fire restrictions on the Stanislaus National Forest (NF) are being lifted effective midnight tonight. This will allow the public to build campfires outside of established administrative sites within the Forest for the purpose of warming; however, visitors are reminded there is still a CAL FIRE, statewide ban on debris burning in effect.

Butte Fire Reaches 100% Containment! Final Update On Actual Fire

San Andreas, CA...As of 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1st the Butte Fire was 100% contained, at 70,868 acres. There are no road closures, and all evacuations have been lifted. From this point forward, there will be no further updates on the Butte Fire. To report smoke or hot spots in the Butte Fire area, please call 209 754-1187. To report damage to fences or roads that was caused by fire suppression activity, not the fire itself, please call 209-754-2708.
