Appaloosa Fire Reaches 75% Containment & Enters Final Stages

Angels Camp, CA...Great work by local & state firefighters have the Appaloosa Fire down and basically out. As of this morning it was 310 Acres and 75% contained.

Copperopolis, CA...Firefighter Crews worked overnight building and securing existing containment lines. Fire personnel were able to keep the acreage at 325 with 10% containment. Additional details are below...

Fireworks Caused Fire in Copperopolis

Copperopolis, CA...At approximately 9:47pm last night a 20’ x 20’ spot of vegetation fire broke out on the 4600 Block of King Lane in Copperopolis. Fire Personnel from CAL FIRE and Copperopolis Fire Department arrived on scene and confirmed the fire had been contained by locals.. The cause of this fire was determined to be the result of Safe and Sane fireworks use. A citation was issued for Health and Safety Code 13001, negligently causing a fire.

Appaloosa Fire Cause

San Andrewa, CA...Peace Officers with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit determined electrical power caused the Appaloosa Fire which is located south-west of Angels Camp, CA. The Appaloosa Fire was reported on July 2, 2016 at approximately 12:48pm. The fire was caused by a property owner working on an electrical panel breaker box which led to the water supply. The fire is still active and has burned approximately 425 acres of vegetation across multiple properties. The fire is currently 15% contained. CAL FIRE is conducting firing operations to secure the perimeter of the fire.

U.S. Forest Service Enacts Temporary Fire Restrictions In High Hazard Areas

Sonora, Calif. June 30, 2016…Due to high fire danger, temporary fire restrictions are in effect in High Hazard Areas on the Stanislaus National Forest (STF) July 1 through the end of the official 2016 fire season. Forest Order 16-2016-3 prohibits campfires, briquette barbecues and smoking outside developed campgrounds, as well as welding and blasting activities in designated High Hazard Areas of the forest – fireworks are not allowed on the forest at any time.

Strike Team 4051 Update From Alpine County Sheriff's Office

Bear Valley, CA...Strike Team 4051 is departing the Erskine Fire in Kern County. This team consisted of engines and personnel from: Bear Valley, Angels Camp, Copperopolis, Mokelumne Hill, West Point, Strike Team Chief from Murphys. I understand they may be heading to the fire near Auburn and I'll let you know if we get any updates.

Live Fire Training Cancelled

San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is cancelling the live fire training, which was scheduled to begin tomorrow, June 21st and run through Thursday June 24th at the Sardella Ranch.

Historic Angels Camp Home Destroyed In Overnight Fire (Updated)

Angels Camp, CA..The large old white house in the 400 Block of South Main was destroyed by fire overnight. According to TCU Command here were no injuries and Red Cross was not needed for displaced residents. The fire started before 2am and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire Update....Home Lost In Jamestown Tonight

Jamestown, CA...This evening at 8:30 PM the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department received a fire reported at a residence at the 10,000 block of Buck Brush Drive in Jamestown. It was reported that one home was fully engulfed. All the occupants were evacuated and are safe. The surrounding homes were notified and evacuated as a precaution. Golden Oaks Drive is closed to through traffic. Please avoid the area so emergency personnel can make entry quickly. One home destroyed and the fire is now contained and appears to be out.

Butte Fire Recovery Hazard Tree Removal Along Public Roadways

San Andreas, CA...The Butte Fire which started on September 9, 2015 not only destroyed 549 homes and 368 outbuildings, it also damaged or destroyed over 5800 trees that now pose a danger to the traveling public. With the Debris Removal Program now complete, Calaveras County will begin the next phase of clean up. This will include identifying, removing, and mitigating hazardous trees along County maintained public roads within the Butte fire burn area. The trees that will be assessed are located within the County right-of-way (R/W) or on adjacent private property
