Calaveras Community Foundation Contributes $40,000 To Support CCAR Charities Butte Fire Relief Efforts |

Angels Camp, CA...CCAR Charities is pleased to announce that the Calaveras Community Foundation has granted them a second grant this week, in the amount of $40,000, to assist those who suffered damages in the Butte Fire. CCAR Charities is very thankful and grateful for that organization’s on-going support and its faith in the things being accomplished by CCAR Charities. Part of the grant, in the amount of $7,500, was donated to Calaveras Community Foundation by PG&E.

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras Fire Safe Council is a non-profit who writes and administers grants for fuels reduction/fuel break projects in Calaveras County. The Mission of the Calaveras Foothills Fire Safe Council is to maintain the quality of life for residents (human as well as local animal and vegetation species) as we coexist within each Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Zone in the Council's sphere of influence that encompasses Calaveras County and portions of Western Alpine County to achieve effective fire protection through education, guidance, and planning as we: Maintain a Healthy Forest, Reduce hazardous vegetation, Create defensible space, Educate as to fire hazards and fire behavior. The primary purpose of the Calaveras Foothills Fire Safe Council is to help protect our citizens, their property, and our natural resources from the effects of catastrophic wildland fire within Calaveras and adjacent counties...

Flash Flood Watch In Effect From Friday Afternoon Through Saturday Morning For Butte Fire Burn Area |

San Andreas, CA...Flash Flood Watch for anyone living or traveling on roads in the Butte Fire Burn Area along Jesus Maria Creek and the Calaveras River especially from Whiskey Slide to Highway 26 should be alert for probable road problems due to flooding, rock and debris, Mountain Ranch Rd and the connecting smaller roads within the Butte Fire Burn Area. Large portions of the area have been severely burned. These areas no longer absorb any rainfall, which can lead to enhanced runoff and possible debris flows. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are forecast over the burn scar area from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, moderate to heavy rainfall is possible for several hours. Be prepared to take action in the case of flash floods, rockslides and or debris flows.

Butte & Valley Fires Cause An Estimated $1 Billion In Insurance Losses |

Sacramento, CA...Two of the most destructive fires in California's history, the Valley and Butte Fires, ravaged nearly 150,000 acres in Northern California last fall and caused an estimated $1 billion in insurance losses. The Valley fire pillaged 1,958 structures in Lake, Napa and Sonoma counties, resulting in approximately $700 million in insured losses and making it the third most damaging wildfire in state history based on total structures burned. In terms of structures lost, the Butte Fire is the seventh most destructive fire to hit California, damaging 818 structures in Amador and Calaveras counties and causing an estimated $300 million in insured losses.

Calaveras County Contracts with CodeRED to Provide Emergency Notification Services |

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County has implemented the CodeRED system, a high-speed emergency notification service provided by Ormond Beach, FL-based Emergency Communications Network. The CodeRED system is an important tool for Calaveras County emergency planning and communications outreach. By using the system’s capabilities to send telephone calls, text messages, emails and alerts on social media, the County will effectively inform residents and County personnel so as to protect life and property. The Public Safety agencies of Calaveras County will use CodeRED to keep the public notified in the event of an emergency.

Mountain Ranch, CA...PG&E is committed to supporting communities recovering from the devastating Butte Fire. In the wake of the fire, PG&E tree crews removed a number of hazardous trees that threatened electrical facilities and cleared the way for first responders. If you have trees on your property that were taken down by PG&E, you may qualify to have debris wood moved and cut or donated and hauled away free of charge as part of PG&E’s expanded debris removal program.

San Andreas, CA...31 debris removal teams continue their work in the western and central Jesus Maria areas, as well as in the Old Gulch, Wendell, Moke Hill, East Murray Creek, Avenue A, Whiskey Slide, Hawver Road and Glencoe areas. Residents and workers are again cautioned as to the traffic risks associated with the number and types of vehicles in work areas. Please slow down around workers and their equipment.

Disaster Relief Fund Spurs Widespread Cooperation |

Angels Camp, CA...A $100,000 donation from the Amador Community Foundation (ACF) to the Calaveras Community Foundation’s (CCF’s) Disaster Relief Fund is a prime example of how the response to the devastation of the Butte Fire has fostered increased cooperation between the diverse organizations of the Motherlode. “We are very gratified, and frankly a little surprised, at the number of individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations that have used our fund to channel their efforts to respond to the needs of the people who have suffered and to mitigate the effects of the fire,” says Brent Harrington, CCF Treasurer. “We feel confident that the relationships established, and enhanced, will be a benefit for our area in the years to come.”
