Sacramento, CA...Strong Winds and Low Humidity Sunday and Monday. Gusty north to northeasterly wind is expected to begin across the Coastal Range, northern and western Central Valley Sunday and spread across the Sierra Nevada Sunday night. Combination of wind, low afternoon humidity, and poor overnight recovery may create a period of increased fire starts or rapid spread.

Live Fire Training Burn of Medusahead, Grass & Oak Understory |

San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be conducting live fire training in Tuolumne County. This training is designed to instruct fireline supervisors, from around the Unit, in proper techniques to plan and conduct complex firing operations during wildland fire suppression operations. Students will learn how to apply fire, to fight fire. They will also learn the proper techniques to ignite and control fire that is outside the perimeter of an approaching wildland fire. This technique is utilized to starve the wildfire of available vegetation, thus aiding in suppression efforts.

Creek Fire Update, 1,292 Acres, 25% Contained |

Pinecrest, CA...Location: The Creek Fire is located in the Clear Lake/Bourland Mountain Area on the Mi-Wok Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest. The fire is in a remote area with no structures threatened. The Creek fire is burning to the south and west of the Mountain Complex which burned in 2003.

Pinecrest, CA...Fire activity increased slightly today. Dry weather has made the fuels more available to burn. A low intensity backing fire continues along the ridge from 7290’ toward Forest System (FS) road 3N29 and near FS road 3N27Y towards Bourland Mountain. Prep work will continue from Clear Lake to Lily Creek and near Box Springs.

Quick Work By Sheriff's Deputies Aid in Containing Fire in Columbia this Afternoon |

Columbia, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."Just before 1:30 this afternoon the Sheriff's Office received a report of a fire on the back porch of a mobile home at Columbia Sky Mobile Home Park in Columbia. The homeowner and two dogs were inside the home and were evacuated safely. Deputies were able to contain the flames until Fire personnel arrived on scene. Only one unit was affected and no further evacuations were necessary."

Pinecrest, CA...The Summit Complex consists of three fires burning on the Summit Ranger District. The McCormick Fire (4,332 acres) is located north of Fence Creek Road and Clark Fork Road. The Douglas Fire (311 acres) is located south of Douglas Picnic Area and Eureka Valley Campground on Hwy 108. The Willow Fire (10 acres) is located west of Groundhog Meadow and bound by Hammill Canyon Loop Rd.

Yosemite, CA...There are multiple fires burning in Yosemite National Park's wilderness. Very little change in temperatures and humidities through the weekend. Slight chance for afternoon/early evening showers and thunderstorms for the next several days. A slight warming trend will begin Sunday.

Governor Brown Declares State of Emergency in Madera, Mariposa and Tulare Counties due to Wildfires |

Sacramento, CA...Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued an emergency proclamation for Madera, Mariposa and Tulare counties due to the effects of the Railroad, Pier, Mission and Peak fires, which have burned thousands of acres, threatened homes and critical infrastructure and caused the evacuation of residents.

Yosemite, CA...There are multiple fires burning in Yosemite National Park's wilderness Smoke will be present due to a high pressure system which brings higher temperatures and lower relative humidities. Hot and dry weather will persist through the weekend and into early next week.

Railroad Fire Update....Hwy 41 Closed Into Yosemite, 1,901 Acres, Community Meeting in Oakhurst Tonight |

Oakhurst, CA...There will be a community meeting Thursday, August 31 at the Community Center in Oakhurst at 7 pm. The fire was active yesterday and grew primarily toward the north and east. Firefighters continue to build direct and indirect line to protect the community of Fish Camp, Sugar Pine, and the Yosemite Mountain Ranch. Dry conditions and tree mortality are contributing to fast growth of the fire. A mandatory evacuation has been issued by the Sherriff’s Office to the communities of Fish Camp and Sugar Pine. A Red Cross shelter has been set up at the Community Center in Oakhurst.
