Caltrans Closing Lanes on SR-120 in Tuolumne/Stanislaus for Paving

Jamestown, CA...Caltrans will have one-way traffic control on State Route 120 (SR-120) in Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties this week to allow for paving. Work will occur as follows: On SR-120 at Knights Ferry, the eastbound lane will be closed on Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Motorists should expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes; SR-120 at Tulloch Dam Road, the eastbound lane will be closed on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Motorists should expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes.

21 Traffic Fatalities Statewide Over Labor Day Holiday

CHP’s Labor Day weekend Maximum Enforcement Period was from 6:01 pm Friday, September 1st to 11:59 pm Monday, September 4th.  During this time CHP investigated 21 fatal traffic collisions statewide which claimed the lives of 21 people. The 21 lives lost were 15 vehicle occupants of which 7 were without seatbelts, 5 motorcyclists of which 1 was without a helmet, and 1 pedestrian. Outside of CHP’s jurisdiction in incorporated cities, 9 additional fatalities have been reported in California for the same period. CHP also arrested 1071 people for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the MEP.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Sales Arrest

Tuolumne, CA...A traffic stop for a brake light out leads to a drug sales arrest. On Saturday just after 1:00AM, Deputy Speer stopped a silver Hyundai sedan in Tuolumne City for having a brake light out. The driver, 46-year-old Dale Biehle of Sonora is on searchable probation and was driving the car with a suspended driver’s license. Deputy V. Lee arrived on scene to assist Deputy Speer with the search of the vehicle.

Projectiles & Early Morning Mayhem Leads to Arrests

Sonora, CA...On 9/2/17, at about 0202 hours, Officer Hankins was standing outside of his patrol car on Washington Street, Near the Sonora Inn. A black car drove by him going N/B on Washington St. There was a “Loud pop,” as the car passed by him. A guy standing about 100' south of him started yelling. Officer Hankins got into his patrol car and drove towards the male subject who was yelling. The Male subject showed Officer Hankins that he had been hit with a projectile which had been launched from the dark car that went by them. Officer Hankins could see that the male subject had a welt on his hip and said the car that just passed shot a projectile at him. Officer Hankins caught up to the dark colored vehicle and made a traffic stop on it in the area of Sonora High School.

Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Chase in Budget Rental Van

Jamestown, CA...On September 1, 2017, at approximately 7:53 pm, Officer Huddleston observed a white 2012 Ford Budget Rental Van westbound on SR-108 west of Sierra Rock Road, tailgating another vehicle and driving partially on the right shoulder. Officer Huddleston attempted to make an enforcement stop on the van. The van moved into the left turn lane and then turned left onto southbound SR-49 from SR-108. The van accelerated away and crossed the double yellow lines. Huddleston activated his siren and requested a registration/wants check through dispatch. Dispatch advised the vehicle was clear but was just called in for reckless driving.

Davis J. Factor From Carmel Valley Passes From Injuries Sustained in Eagle Meadows Collision

Eagle Meadows, CA...On September 3, 2017 at approximately 2:30 pm, 66 year old Carmel Valley resident, Christine Factor was driving a 2011 Lexus GX460, westbound on State Route 108 west of Forest Route 6N24, Eagle Meadows, at approximately 50-55 MPH. For unknown reasons, Christine Factor allowed her vehicle to veer to the right and travel off of the right road edge. Subsequently, the front end of the Lexus struck a large tree.
