LA Man Goes on Wild, Rampage Starting in Buck Meadows, Through Yosemite & Ending in Fish Camp

Fish Camp, CA...LA Man Arrested after Terrorizing Trek Around Mariposa, Yosemite & Mariposa County. It all started Wednesday afternoon around 1:45pm in the Buck Meadows area of Mariposa County on Hwy 120. Anthony Mehlhaff 40 years old from Los Angeles, CA walked up to a pregnant waitress in a local restaurant. He reached out and touched her stomach and reportedly said "the spirits led me to you and your baby belongs to me, and what time is your break because I will be waiting for you."

Angels Camp, CA...Homer E. Richardson October 3, 1926 ~ August 10, 2024 (age 97).  Homer Ernest Richardson, 97, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Sonora, CA. Homer was born on October 03, 1926, in Stockton, MO to parents Jason and M. Marie (Taylor) Richardson. Homer was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, and a retired mechanic who last worked for PG&E. Homer is survived by Spouse Marian Richardson; and his Children.  Services will be held at a later date.

Successful Search & Rescue Mission in Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA...Beth has safely been evacuated from the area and was transported for medical care. We want to thank all the mutual aid agencies who assisted us throughout this mission! UPDATE: Thursday 5:26pm. We are very happy to announce Beth is safe and has been successfully located within the search area by search and rescue personnel. Personnel on scene are actively coordinating getting Beth safely out of the area. We will provide further updates as new information arises.

Caltrans to Begin Culvert Replacements on Hwy 49

Tuolumne County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin construction to replace 162 feet of culvert on State Route 49 between Sonora and Tuttletown. The project is scheduled to begin the week of August 26, 2024, and end in late September. It will require one-way traffic control between Flume Road and Mt. Brow Road with expected 5-10 minute delays. Residents in the area can expect intermittent construction noise.

Fatal Hwy 120 Crash Took Life of Ceres Man

Jamestown, CA...On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 7:25am, a 54-year-old male from Ceres was driving a 2014 Buick sedan eastbound on State Route 120, east of La Grange Road along with his passenger, 66-year-old Vicki Rasmussen of Ceres. At that same time, 67-year-old Erich Heinrichs of Turlock was driving a 2020 Hino tank truck westbound on State Route 120 east of La Grange Road, at approximately 55 miles per hour. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Buick allowed the vehicle to travel left of the painted solid double yellow lines, directly into the path of Mr. Heinrichs’ vehicle. Mr. Heinrichs was unable to avoid the Buick and as a result, both vehicles
crashed head on.

High Speed Chase Leads to Crash & Arrest

Columbia, CA...On July 31, 2024, at approximately 10:00pm, a Sonora Area CHP officer monitored a call from Merced Communication Center advising that a Mariposa Sheriff Deputy was in pursuit of a silver sedan and the reason for the enforcement stop was due to the vehicle having multiple vehicle violations. They were traveling northbound on La Grange Road, approaching Bonds Flat Road at a high rate of speed. The CHP officer responded to the area and took over the pursuit on State Route 49 near Sims Road. The CHP officer pursued the vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Camry, for approximately 11 miles with speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.

Pedro Fire, 7% Contained 2,727 Acres, Smoke Output Drops Significantly

Don Pedro, CA...The Pedro Fire has now spread to 2727 acres burning in grass and brush. The fire remains 5% contained and exhibits a moderate to dangerous rate of spread. There is an active threat to structures and powerlines, prompting evacuation orders and warnings.
