1st Annual Pink in the Night Celebration
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to remember those living with breast cancer, their family and friends who provide them with love and support, and to everyone that has been touched by the disease.
The Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Foundation is spreading the word that early detection of breast cancer followed by prompt treatment saves lives. You are invited to participate in Murphys’ 1st Annual Pink in the Night celebration and are invited to attend an opening ceremony on October 1 at the Murphys Hotel Patio at 6:00pm Murphys business establishments will light up the town with pink lights at their businesses that evening and will keep them lit during the month of October.
This year 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,000 of them will die. Early and accurate diagnosis is the best tool for fighting this disease.
The pink lights symbolize hope, and Foundation hopes to make a difference in someone’s life. This event serves as a reminder to women that it is time to take charge of their own health. Women are encouraged to get an annual mammogram, do a monthly self-exam, or seeing a physician for a regular check-up…and perhaps support the current Digital Mammogram Campaign to bring this technology to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. For further information, please call Peggy Lucas, Executive Director, at (209) 754-2624.
The Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Foundation operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation whose mission is to continuously improve the health of the community.
