San Andreas, CA...The monthly Calaveras Chamber of Commerce Mixer held at Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital was a success tonight. Business people from all over the area attended this popular monthly event. Incoming CAO Robert C. Lawton, most of the County Supervisors, and various County Department Heads and County Staff attended as well as many local business people like Darrell Slocum of Golden State Cellular, Mike and Diane Fullaway of Calaveras Lumber, Kathy Mazzaferro, Jim Bailey, Scott Bur of Stark Realty and more....

We have the BOS meeting summary for Tuesday January 22nd. The video is uo now. The Study Session will be up later this evening/// There is over 5 hours meeting video. North Vista Plaza, Ambulance Service, The Calaveras County Business Council and much more supervisoral goodness. We will have the 2nd half finished up later this evening. San Andreas, CA...Some Vallecito Residents will be getting their property back soon thanks to the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department. The suspect is in jail now for possession of stolen property with more charges to follow. Deputy Robert Huffman apprehended the suspect at approximately 7:30am this morning. The robbery occurred yesterday afternoon. The residents were away for a couple of hours and returned home to evidence of a burglary....

San Andreas, CA...The Public Health Department, in consultation with Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD) officials, is investigating an unusually high number of ill students at Mokelumne Hill and Rail Road Flat Elementary Schools. The reported symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea are consistent with a gastrointestinal virus. Late last week, upon receiving a report from the school district nurse, public health officials immediately began investigating why a large number of students were ill. “We found symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, which are consistent with a viral gastrointestinal illness,” said Dean Kelaita, M.D., Calaveras County Health Officer. “The virus causes sudden onset of vomiting and stomach cramps,” added Kelaita. “Symptoms may include diarrhea...
