Prison Doctor Recovering from Inmate Assault and Two Correctional Sergeants Suffered Minor In Ione

Ione, A staff physician is recovering from injuries she suffered yesterday from an attack by a Mule Creek State Prison inmate. Shortly after 8 a.m. on August 12, 2013, inmate Robert Daniel Perry, 61, arrived to a medical appointment at the prison. Without warning, he grabbed the doctor by her hair and started choking her. Traffic Update...Multiple Vehicle Accident on Hwy 88

Ione, CA..CHP is reporting a multiple vehicle accident on Hwy 88 at Buena Vista where there is a white suv on top of the other vehicles and there are 3 vehicles involved. It is unknown yet if parties are trapped. Please use caution in the area... Update as of 3:30pm...A bit of good news at least relatively. No fatalities, moderate injuries, one flat bed and two regular tow trucks on the way. Normally we try not to post accident photos for lots of reasons but in this one if everyone can walk away with only minor to moderate injuries it is almost grounds for celebration...

Amador Learning Center Awarded $2500 Ethyl Grant

Sutter Creek, CA...The Ethyl Grant program from the Foundation for Rural Education and Development awarded the Amador Community College Foundation a $2500 grant for computer equipment recently. The Ethyl Grant provides matching funds to rural communities that are involved with projects aimed at bettering their communities. Mt. Aukum, CA...Crews are responding to a reported vegetation fire spotted by the Blue Mountain Fire Lookout Station. It was about 30 miles north of them in the Eldorado National Forest. Not sure if it's a lightening strike fire or not but could be a possibility...
