Sonora, CA...On Saturday morning, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen who reported finding opened mailboxes on Bostwick Road near Rawhide Road in Sonora. A Deputy checked the area and did not find any suspicious people or vehicles.

Valvehouse Maintenance Work Will Impact Public Access and Recreation to Cherry Lake for up to Eight Weeks Starting in September, 2017 |

Groveland, CA...The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will begin repair work on the valvehouse at Cherry Lake in the fall. Public access to the lake will be restricted from September 5th until the work has been completed. Last winter, one of the four high flow release valves experienced a mechanical failure. Additionally, another two valves are scheduled for replacement. Valve repair and replacement is essential for safe dam operations. Repair work will begin in early September and is anticipated to be completed within eight weeks.

Bridge Work on Eastbound and Westbound State Route 120 at the James E. Roberts Bridge |

Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 120 at the James E. Roberts Bridge in Tuolumne County for bridge work.
The bridge will be under one-way traffic control through the project’s completion in November 2017. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays.

Utility Work State Route 49 from Mormon Creek Road to Rawhide Road |

Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be performing one-way traffic control on northbound and southbound State Route 49 from Mormon Creek Road to Rawhide Road for utility work. Work will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

Groveland, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office. "Tuolumne County Sheriff's Search and Rescue teams scoured the mile radius around Carol's home throughout the night using an area detection dog and ground teams. The dense vegetation and rough terrain were significant obstacles. The search is ongoing and will be including mutual aid search teams from surrounding agencies. Groveland residents please continue to share the post and Carol's pictures. A more recent picture of Carol has been added below.

Two Mobile Homes Destroyed and One Damaged Last Night |

Columbia, CA...From the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department: Two homes were fully engulfed by the blaze and one received minor damage. Two homes were evacuated successfully. Personnel have contacted the owner of the third mobile who was not home during the incident. All residents were out of their homes and safe.
