Angels Camp Resident Kevin Ray Hawkins Perished in Copperopolis Fatal Accident |

Copperopolis, CA...We just received the Press Release on this mornings fatality that occurred in Copperopolis. The deceased name is Angels Camp resident, Kevin Ray Hawkins, age 25. Mr. Hawkins was driving on O'Byrnes Ferry Road southbound at an unknown rate of speed. For unknown reason, he allowed his Jeep to drift to the right from the roadway and the right front tire struck a raised asphalt curb, the vehicle then veered to the left and into the northbound lane. He lost control of his Jeep and veered back to the right and it turned onto it's left side on the roadway. It continued, left the roadway and veered down a steep dirt embankment... |

Investigators State Copperopolis Morado Circle Fires Cause is Electrical |

Copperopolis, CA...We have just heard from Sargent Dave Seawell of Calaveras Sheriffs Office regarding the Morado Circle Fires that occurred last week in Copperopolis. Here is what he stated "Investigators have determined the cause of the fire to be electrical. Arson has been ruled out. I have no further details at this time."

So you’ve decided to move to the country where rocks mysteriously become a thing of beauty. At first when you move to our little slice of heaven you think it would be lovely to have something green and lush in your yard. Maybe a hint of color here, a dash of romance there, and possibly something to wiggle your toes in as you walk. Within weeks you discover your dreams are fading, replaced with the fact that simply something green and alive would suffice. You of course came to that realization after multiple attempts at digging even the smallest hole in what we up here in the foothills loosely refer to as soil. Any shovel, no matter how sturdy and strong, is no match for our rocks that are cleverly disguised as soil. ....

Crews Responding to Copperopolis Vegetation Fire |

Copperopolis, CA...Crews from multiple agencies and all aircraft out of Columbia are responding to a vegetation fire at 7131 Jaquima Drive in Copperopolis. More to follow...(Update as of 3:45pm...Air Attack 440 out of Columbia is just coming on scene and is reporting that the fire is approximately 3 acres at this time.. (Update as of 3:57pm...the fire is now 4-5 acres, crews on scene think they can handle it with the resources and crews now available to them...(Update as of 4:14pm...They have just released the air tankers and the incident commander on scene says they can handle with the engines on scene...

Copperopolis, CA....They tell me there are heroes in Copperopolis, a small community of residents in the Sierra Foothills of California. The mixture of people living here are the working class, the many people that own there long awaited retirement homes and the weekenders up for the Labor Day Weekend on the lake or BBQ. Those of us that are “locals” wave as we pass each other and still say hello to strangers we meet in a store or restaurant. People of all walks of life live in Copper and I am lucky enough to get to meet a lot of these folks.....

Copperopolis, CA....During the month of September Copperopolis Town Square will host “Copper Concerts,” a series of free live musical performances open to the public. Performing this weekend will be blues aficionados “The Jeff Watson Band” and “Diamond Duo,” known for performing a range of popular music. These two shows will be held Friday, Sept. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Jeff Watson Band) and Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Diamond Duo). For a full September schedule please click HERE.
