Stanislaus National Forest Ends Temporary Fire Restrictions in Moderate Hazard Areas

Sonora, CA...The fire restrictions in moderate hazard areas have been terminated as of Oct. 10, 2017. The Stanislaus National Forest enacted temporary fire restrictions in Moderate Hazard Areas on Aug. 26, Restrictions in High Hazard Areas remain in effect. California Fire Update, 23 Dead, 191,437 Acres, 3,500 Homes and other Structures were Destroyed

Santa Rosa, CA...California Statewide Fire Summary Thursday, October 12, 2017.  Fire conditions remained active overnight as over 8,000 firefighters braced for gusty.  North winds as they battle 21 wildfires that have burned 191,437 acres. Red Flag Warnings for gusty winds and low humidity remain in effect across the fire area and  much of Northern California. These winds will continue to challenge firefighters in their efforts towards containment and will increase the risk for new fires. With high fire danger across California yesterday, a new large wildfire broke out in Fresno County. The death toll has risen to 23 across 4 fires as estimates remain that 3,500 homes and other structures were destroyed. Hundreds of additional fire engines and firefighters have been requested from other states, not only to help relieved crews on the frontlines, but to be ready for the possibility of new wildfires that may ignite during the Red Flag Warnings.

Sacramento, CA...From Cal OES...Firefighters began battling multiple wildfires on October 9 in numerous counties across the entire state, prompting mass evacuations. Thousands of acres burned and threatened infrastructure as strong winds fueled the fast-moving fires. As of today, as many as 18 fires are burning in nine counties and an estimated 20,000 people are evacuated.

Napa, CA...Overnight fire conditions were very active on several fronts forcing additional evacuations across Northern California. Firefighters are battling 22 large wildfires that have burned nearly 170,000 acres. Firefighters are bracing for the winds to shift this evening and increase in speed. 17 people are confirmed to have died in the wildfires this week. 11 people alone died in the Tubbs Fire, making it the 6th deadliest fire in our state’s history.

Fire Update for Tuesday, October 10th. 115,000 Acres, 11 Deaths, 1,500 Structures Destroyed

Sacramento, CA...17 large wildfires that started in the past 24 hours continue to burn across California and have burned over 115,000 acres. The winds that fanned these fires Sunday night and Monday morning have decreased significantly, but local winds and dry conditions continue to pose a challenge. With the decrease in the winds combined with cooler weather, firefighters made good progress overnight. Sheriff officials have confirmed that 11 people have died as a result of the wildfires in Sonoma, Mendocino, Napa and Yuba counties. These fires have already burned an estimated 1,500 homes and commercial structures. Several Damage Assessment Teams have been deployed to get a full account of the destruction. Yesterday Governor Brown declared a State of Emergency in Napa, Sonoma, and Yuba Counties, as well as a State of Emergency in Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Nevada and Orange counties.

SACRAMENTO - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued an emergency proclamation for Napa, Sonoma and Yuba counties due to the effects of multiple fires, including the Tubbs and Atlas fires, which have damaged critical infrastructure, threatened thousands of homes and caused the evacuation of residents.

Napa, CA...Overnight significant winds fanned over a dozen fires across Northern California. 15 new wind whipped wildfires in nine counties have already burned over 73,000 acres in the past 12 hours. Firefighters have been challenged with winds gusting in excess of 50mph causing extreme rates of spread and volatile burning conditions. Governor Brown has declared a State of Emergency in Napa, Sonoma, and Yuba Counties. One confirmed fatality has occurred in Mendocino County, with several reports of injuries to civilians. The focus continues to be the evacuations of thousands of residents and protecting property.
