Human Remains Located Near Mountain Ranch |

Mountain Ranch, CA...On March 29, 2021, at about 11:50 AM, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call from a person who stated they had located what they believed to be human remains in a remote area located north of San Andreas. The caller stated they were walking on a seldom used portion of their property when they made the discovery. The reporting person activated 911 and requested law enforcement to respond.
Patrol Deputies and Investigators responded to the location and confirmed the remains to be human.

The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered. Click on images below for larger versions

San Andreas, CA...From March 29 to April 23, 2021 there will be up to 15 minute traffic delays to accommodate Phase 1 of the roadway drainage upgrades on Whiskey Slide Road. Crews will be replacing and installing new drainage culverts at several locations along Whiskey Slide Road.

Angels Camp, CA...San Joaquin Delta College is now offering an Early College Pathway to ambitious eighth grade students in Calaveras County. Students who enroll in this 100% free and virtual program can complete an Associate Degree in Math and Science while earning their high school diploma.
