CUSD Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten Enrollment Registration Packets Available February 8th |

Calaveras County, CA...Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. (The first year being Transitional Kindergarten and the second year a more traditional Kindergarten program.) Students may enroll in a Transitional Kindergarten program if they are five years old on September 2 through December 2. Children must be five years old prior to September
2 to enroll in traditional Kindergarten. Parents and guardians may optionally enroll their ageeligible
child in a Transitional Kindergarten program.

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte Senior Savannah Wittman took first place in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voices of Democracy speech contest. Her speech (audio recording attached) addressed the theme: My Responsibility to America. Her first place speech earned her $2000 and a trip to Washington D.C. the last week of February to represent the VFW Department of California as one of 52 high schools students who will compete for the $30,000 national award.

Angels Camp, CA...On Wednesday, January 18 eleven Bret Harte FFA members traveled to Linden High School to compete in the Delta Cal Sectional FFA speaking contest. These competitors participated in four different contests against eighteen other FFA Chapters.
