The 2021 Junior Frog Jump is May 8th at Utica Park!

Angels Camp, CA...We are excited to bring back this long standing event! Bring the kiddos and come jump a frog! Open to Kids through 8th Grade. Frogs will be provided or you may bring your own BULLFROG *Must be at least 4" from nose to tail. $2 per jump, 1 jump per participant. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, all jumpers get a certificate. Food and Beverages on Site so bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic in the park! COVID-19 Precautions in place. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing. This is a sanctioned Frog Jump. Winner qualifies for the Frog Jump Finals on May 16 at 3pm.

Angels Camp, CA..(Frogtown, USA)...For years, Grover Anderson wrestled with his commitment to holding a day job. Always eager to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter, the desire to start and support a family landed one all-important notch higher on life’s priority list. For the last six years he’s been making both work—teaching high school English & drama in his small mountain town, building a devout local following, and touring the US in the summer. He released four albums and played in 23 states, yet still he wondered if he’d given short shrift to a dream. Then 2020 happened, and as he witnessed the hardships endured by career performers, Grover had never felt more fortunate to hold a secondary gig.

Sonora, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest provides the following information about planned prescribed burns for the Experimental Forest Underburn, located on the Summit Ranger District in units 37, 41 and 43. General and Specific Location: The prescribed burns are located about two miles southeast of Pinecrest, along Forest Road 4N10 and Crabtree Road, Township 4N, Range 18E, Sections 27 and 28.

Spring Has Sprung at Big Trees State Park

Arnold, CA...There are signs of spring throughout the park. Every season is beautiful, but spring brings new growth and life to #bigtrees. Many dogwoods are blooming — see the photos from today for details. Please keep and mind that dogs and other pets are not allowed on trails, including in the sequoia groves.

Caltrans District 10 Expects to Open Sonora Pass for Summer at Noon Today! Repairs Needed on Ebbetts Pass!

Kennedy Meadows, CA...District 10 expects to open State Route 108/Sonora Pass at noon today. Crews have worked diligently to remove snow, debris and repair the roadway to help ensure motorists' safety. We thank them and District 9 for their efforts and wish you safe travel! District 10 continues to make progress on the mountain passes.

A Bookmobile is Rolling into Calaveras County! Board of Supervisors Even Proclaimed a Bookmobile Day in Calaveras County!

San Andreas, CA...In honor of the first-ever bookmobile coming to Calaveras County later this summer, he Calaveras County Board of Supervisors unanimously proclaimed April 17 as National Bookmobile Day in the county. (for full proclamation, see below).  The bookmobile will serve as a resource to county residents, especially to those who live in areas without a library branch. The state-of-the-art Mercedes Sprinter van is wheel chair accessible, equipped with HVAC and has wifi access as well as a public computer.
