The date is drawing near and the excitement is building, as final touches are being tweaked for the opening of the Mokelumne River Arts Project called “River Reflections” on Saturday, January 10. Word is already out to several folks who are getting intrigued to see the living human water fountain which will be spouting Mokelumne River water synchronized to music on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee was honored at the Calaveras Visitor's Bureau annual dinner earlier this week. The event which was held at the Black Bear Inn in Arnold CA recognizes businesses who have made innovations in tourism. The Fair received and "Innovations in Tourism" award for the 2014 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced that they have hired Valley Springs resident Staci Johnston as the new Executive Director. As a former business owner, Staci Johnston says she's excited for the Chamber to build a better relationship with our business community no matter how large or small the business. “I have a deep commitment to make a positive impact upon our county as the Executive Director, and on behalf of the Chamber it is our goal to help build our new businesses as well as promote our longtime merchants within the county”, remarked Johnston. “I am looking forward to showcasing our business owners and recognizing their dedication to our communities and ultimately our county. Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Bullfrogs dropped their non-conference game to Orestimba on Friday Night and are now are even in the win and loss columns early in the 2014 Season. The Calaveras Redskins dropped Friday's home non-conference game against Escalon by a score of 33-25. Around the MLL Summerville is undefeated so far followed by Sonora and Bret Hart at .500 and the rest of the MLL will be seeking their first wins of the season this week...
