Court Halts Construction Of Pine Grove Dollar General Project |

Jackson, CA...On November 14, 2014 Amador County Superior Court Judge Steven Hermanson ordered construction activities for the proposed Dollar General store in Pine Grove must stop immediately. On October 24, 2014 Amador County issued a building permit to property owner Del Rapini to begin construction of the project. Last week the Pine Grove Business Alliance, a group of Pine Grove residents and business owners, filed a legal action challenging that permit. The lawsuit asserts that the Dollar General store proposed for that location violates the County's zoning ordinance and General Plan, and that the County had failed to evaluate or mitigate environmental impacts from the project as required by CEQA -- the California Environmental Quality Act...

Murphys, CA...On Saturday night evening October 25th, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras is presenting their 2nd Annual “CALAVERAS LIVE!” fundraiser at the Black Bart Playhouse in Murphys. Tickets are going fast for this year’s show which begins with a wine reception and hors d’oeuvres provided by The Historic Murphys Hotel at 6:30pm. The evening will include lots of fun, music, laughter, and no doubt a few tears. You will also have the opportunity to bid on fine antiques and art, and purchase raffle tickets at the door. Placerville, CA...The King Fire area closure is effect in the Eldorado National Forest beginning September 17, announced Forest Supervisor Laurence Crabtree. “Under our Unified Command System, our top priorities are fighting this fire and keeping the fire fighters and the public safe, said Crabtree. “We cannot safely fight this fire with intermingled publics. Please stay out of the closed areas until I can reopen them, which I intend to do as soon as possible.”......
