Reconstruction Begins for Pinecrest Day Use Area Parking and Roads |

Pinecrest, CA...A Forest Service contractor began reconstructing the Pinecrest Day Use Area parking area and roadways today. Contractor KW Emerson of San Andreas, California, will reconstruct Lot 2, the parking area adjacent to the Pinecrest Lake Resort snack shack in this first phase of the project. “This is a multi-season project,” said Tim Hughes, Stanislaus National Forest’s chief engineer. “Work will halt during winter as needed due to weather and in summer we will shut down work to allow the public to use the affected areas during the recreation season.” The work will continue during spring and fall construction periods through May 2019, Hughes said.

Yosemite National Park Fire Update September 9th 2017 |

Yosemite, CA...There are multiple fires burning in Yosemite National Park's wilderness. Very little change in temperatures and humidities through the weekend. Slight chance for afternoon/early evening showers and thunderstorms for the next several days. A slight warming trend will begin Sunday.

C.A.S.T for Kids is September 9th |

Tuttletown, CA...New Melones is holding it's annual Cast Event on September 9th. This event is a great opportunity for kids up to high school level that are disadvantaged or otherwise unable to go fishing. New Melones with have free fishing poles and tackle for the kids. Boat rides, games and lunch will also be provided. Photos will also be taken and placed in a plaque for the kids as well.There will be other park agencies represented there as well, including Yosemite, National Park, Knights Ferry, U.S. Forest service, Cail fire and others.The event will be held in Tutteltown Recreation area at New Melones. There will be a ranger at the gate directing traffic to the event. This free event will be celebrating it's 25th year, this year and is scheduled to be a great event The event, and starts at at 9am till 2pm.

Turlock Woman Nabbed After Sharp Eyed Kohl's Staff Alert Deputies |

Sonora, CA....On Monday afternoon, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Kohl’s in the Junction Shopping Center in Sonora for a sighting of a wanted theft suspect. A social media post shared from a business in Oakdale of a woman stealing a wallet and cell phone, went viral after the theft occurred around 11 AM on Monday morning. When deputies arrived at Kohl’s they were directed to a woman matching the description of the suspect seen on the video responsible for the theft.

Caltrans Closing Lanes on SR-120 in Tuolumne/Stanislaus for Paving |

Jamestown, CA...Caltrans will have one-way traffic control on State Route 120 (SR-120) in Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties this week to allow for paving. Work will occur as follows: On SR-120 at Knights Ferry, the eastbound lane will be closed on Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Motorists should expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes; SR-120 at Tulloch Dam Road, the eastbound lane will be closed on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Motorists should expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes.
