You Are Invited to Explore Science Fair Projects and Demonstrations |

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County students in fourth through twelfth grades will showcase their scientific experiments and demonstrations at the 33nd Annual Calaveras County Science Fair on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School gymnasium at 150 Old Oak Road, San Andreas. The Science Fair is funded in part by a grant from the Teichert Foundation. The public is invited to explore Science Fair projects from 9-9:45am and the demonstration area throughout the morning.

Power Outage Update...Almost 3,000 Without Power at This Time |

Arnold, CA...The power outages are starting to climb. In Calaveras Amador & Tuolumne Counties there are close to 3,000 not moving any current. The Largest outage is in the Pioneer, Pine Grove & West Point area with 2,688 without power after crews found a downed line. In the Valley Springs area there area couple of hundred customers out as well. In addition to these larger incidents there are numerous smaller outages. Lets be careful out there...

Heavy Snow Later This Week...As a "Miracle March" Begins? |

Arnold, CA....A series of cold winter storms will bring periods of heavy snow and gusty winds to the foothills and mountains of interior NorCal later this week. Snow may begin as early as Wednesday afternoon and continue through the weekend. Several feet of snowfall accumulation is expected in the mountains with up to a foot possible across some foothill locations. Portions of the northern Sacramento Valley, including Redding, may see accumulating snow Thursday night and Friday. Any planning travel across the foothills or mountains later this week should stay in touch with the latest forecasts.

Snow will begin Wednesday afternoon and continue through the weekend. Several feet of snowfall accumulation is expected in the mountains with a foot or more across some foothill locations. Portions of the northern Sacramento Valley, including Redding, may see accumulating snow Thursday night and Friday. Mark Twain Medical Center & Soroptimist Offering FREE Cholesterol Tests During February |

San Andreas, CA...As part of a continuing partnership with Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be offering FREE cholesterol tests for women in Calaveras County during American Heart Month in February. This FREE screening is also known as a lipid panel. The test measures good and bad cholesterol and triglycerides helping to identify women at greater risk of heart disease and stroke. The “Take It to Heart Program” offers the free cholesterol tests throughout February to women who live in Calaveras County. A 12 hour fast is recommended or no food after midnight, as is proof of Calaveras County residency. Women needing the FREE cholesterol screenings do not need to schedule an appointment.

Misty D. Levario, 41 from Wilsyville & Paul R. Goltz, 69 from Glencoe Passed Away in Hwy 26 Collision |

Glencoe, CA...The sad notifications to family members have been made and the names can now be released. On February 23, 2018, at approximately 1515 hours, CHP San Andreas units responded to a traffic collision on SR-26 at Ponderosa Way in Glencoe. The investigating officers determined that Misty D. Levario was driving her 2013 Hyundai SR-26 eastbound approaching Ponderosa Way. Paul R. Goltz was driving his 1985 Toyota SR-26 westbound approaching Ponderosa Way and for an unknown reason, Misty D. Levario allowed her vehicle to travel into the westbound lane of SR-26 directly into the path of Paul R. Goltz. The front of the two vehicles collided. As a result of the collision, both parties sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
