Beth Louise Hicks 1960 - 2018

Arnold, CA...Beth Louise Hicks of Arnold, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Stanford Hospital on January 20, 2018, at the age of 57 after a courageous fight with breast cancer. Beth was born in San Francisco, California on March 8, 1960. She graduated from St. Finn Barr Catholic School, St. John Ursuline High School in 1978, and went on to earn a degree from San Francisco City College. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 37 years starting her career at San Francisco General Hospital. After moving to Arnold, California, she worked for Tuolumne General Hospital for 14 years and ended her career at Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, California. Beth was known for her big heart, her love for her family, and she made a lasting impression on everyone that she met. She was always fun, smart, vocal, colorful, funny, and brash – she had the mouth of a sailor and a heart of gold.

Arnold, CA...Michael Oliveira announces his re-election campaign for Supervisor, Third District, of Calaveras County. Since his election in 2014, Supervisor Oliveira has dealt with several critical issues within the County, such as lack of law enforcement personnel, disintegrating infrastructure, and natural disasters. His dedication to serving the community is shown by his service in the Marine Corps, his years spent as a police officer in the Bay Area and many more years working as a Deputy (three of them with zero compensation). He continues to devote himself to our community and shows his willingness to listen to the constituents, represent their desires at Board meetings, and improve the quality of life in Calaveras County.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!. A beautiful day is ahead with abundant sunshine and a high of 50F and ENE winds from 9-13mph with some gusts up to 20mph. High pressure is firmly parked out in the Eastern Pacific and will bring slightly above normal temperatures to the area for the next 7 days. Some high ridging clouds will make their way over the area on Tuesday but then clear skies will prevail for the rest of the week. It’s a great time to bring the family or friends up for quality skiing/riding or just taking a lesson. With the whole front of the upper Mtn. now available there is a variety of terrain for all to enjoy. Remember, we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” so come check us out this Winter !!!!! stay tuned...

Bear Valley Cross County Trails Open For The Season

Bear Valley, CA...Paul Says: Saturday 1/27/18 at 7:30am: Today is the long awaited and highly anticipated opening day! There are 15 meadow trails (snowcat groomed) with double track and skate lane for striding, ski skating and snowshoeing. They are open from 9am to 4:30pm and the conditions are great! Take a spin out to the trailside Meadow Café for lunch on the deck from 11am to 3pm. The tubing ($16 per person) and sledding areas ($14 per person) are open from 9am to 4pm for 2-hour sessions, with the last session going out at 2:00pm. (Children must be at least 3 years old to participate.) The weather is clear and beautiful this weekend and we hope you will come up and join us for some winter fun!

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!..A beautiful weekend is ahead with copious amounts of sunshine and smiles to be had. A high today of 42F is expected as the high pressure has returned and light SE winds will prevail today so don’t forget the sunscreen. The next 6 days look to be sunny with slightly above normal temps but there is something on the horizon for next Saturday. The MJO is helping to keep things a bit dry but hey, it is what it is. What we do have is great conditions out on the hill as we opened the whole front side bowl yesterday with the Koala chair being able to come online for the first time this season. It’s a great time to bring the family or friends up for quality skiing/riding or just taking a lesson. Remember, we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” so come check us out this Winter !!!!! stay tuned.....

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!. 2″ of new snow has fallen overnight bringing the storm total to 12″. A mostly sunny day is on tap with a high of 33F and an ESE wind up to 6mph then becoming variable mid day. High pressure returns for the weekend and extended forecast with some high clouds on Tuesday and any moisture will stay well North at this time. We’re opening more terrain today as Koala will operate and as well as access into the Porridge Bowl area. The Face will still remain closed so please obey all posted signs and warnings. Remember, we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” so come check us out this Winter !!!!! stay tuned………………………….
