Bear Valley, CA...Personnel of the Amador Ranger District, USFS, went to the Monte Wolfe cabin in the Mokelumne Wilderness area last month. They removed the door and the flue pipe, leaving two big holes and making the cabin much more vulnerable to weather and other intrusion. They may have broken the law as well as violated their own policies. A group of interested citizens is looking into it and may pursue a lawsuit. Regardless of whether this action was legal and duly authorized, a lot of us feel that it is contrary to the interest of the community in a singularly important historic resource...

Overnight: Clear, with a low around 24. East wind around 5 mph. Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. East wind at 11 mph becoming west. Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 4am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Calm wind becoming south southwest between 5 and 8 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected......

Organization Raises nearly $20K to Help Local Kids Participate in Snow sports Brings Warren Miller Film to Angels Camp and Bear Valley~by Warren Alford

The AMA Snowsports committee announced local screening schedule for Warren Miller’s 2009/10 film “Dynasty”. Screenings will be held in Angels Camp and Bear Valley, Ca. All proceeds from the screenings benefit AMA Snowsports. Now in its third year, the organization has raised nearly $20,000.00 to support local youth to participate in snow sports programs at Bear Valley Mountain. New this year, scholarships for youth cross country programs will be made available as well. Tickets are Available in advance at Angels Market, Sierra Hills Market, Big Trees Market and the Bear Valley Sport Shop. $20 for Adults, $10 for children under 12. Ticket includes automatic entry in door prize drawing and a complimentary mid-week lift ticket to Bear Valley Mountain and Bear Valley Cross Country....
