Injured Firefighter Condition Still Listed as Serious

Copperopolis, CA...Two days after a structure fire sent a firefighter to the hospital, the injured CAL FIRE Captain remains in serious condition at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Fire Captain Sue Arrouzet, 45 of Tracy, has been with CAL FIRE for 22 years and is currently assigned to the CAL FIRE Copperopolis Fire Station. Captain Arrouzet remains in good spirits surrounded by family and co-workers and will likely be transferred to a San Francisco hospital for recovery....

Winton-Schaads Prescribed Burn Near West Point

San Andreas – The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be conducting a prescribed burn in the Lily Valley area east of West Point. The proposed 270 total acres included in the Winton-Schaads Prescribed Burn project slated for Fall 2011 will be divided up into smaller, approximately 20-30 acre areas which will be treated starting as early as October 31, 2011 with burns possible through mid-December. One to two CAL FIRE engines along with personnel from Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) will conduct the burns...

San Andreas – The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) announces the retirement of Mike Noonan as Unit Chief, effective July 2011. Brian Kirk was named Unit Chief and started August 1, 2011. Brian has over 29 years in the fire service. He began his career in El Dorado County in 1982 as a volunteer firefighter at the Cameron Park Fire Department. He then worked as a Firefighter, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Captain Paramedic and Fire Marshal for Cameron Park when he started with CAL FIRE through a Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement...
