Family 4 Fitness Hosts Orientation Session for Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, 7-8pm, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Family 4 Fitness in Vallecito. Prospective mentors and people interested in helping recruit quality volunteers for the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program are invited to an informational session about the program, 7-8pm, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Family 4 Fitness, 4868 Highway 4 in Vallecito. The orientation will include a brief video, an overview of the program and the youth waiting for mentors, and a chance to meet experienced mentors and ask questions.....

From the KCRA piece..."A candidate running in the Calaveras County Sheriff's election is being criticized for a fundraiser that some say shouldn't have been held on school grounds." The Angels Camp Police Department made several arrests over the weekend, for violations related to driving while impaired, and for possession of narcotics and / or narcotic paraphernalia. On Saturday, 04-24-10, at approximately 10:22 AM, an officer stopped a vehicle for registration and speed violations on SR 4 near SR 49. The driver of that vehicle, Scott Harmon, a 33 years old Livermore, CA resident was subsequently found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest....

Day Camp Coming to Utica Park For Children 3 to 10 |

| Summer fun for Calaveras County kids is just around the corner with the inaugural start of the Little Froggy’s Summer Day Camp beginning June 21st at Utica Park in Angels Camp. The themed summer day program is a first for Angels Camp. There are six one week sessions starting at 9 a.m. and ending at noon, Monday through Friday. Attendees can sign up for single weeks or for the entire six week program. The programs are designed for children from ages 3 to 10; however the younger children must be potty trained and out of pull-ups..... |

| "Re: Ballard vs. Kuntz debate. In response to numerous requests from citizens of Calaveras County, I take full responsibility for organizing the upcoming debate event on April 30, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Angels Murphys Lions Hall in Murphys. I also asked Judge Mewhinney to moderate it and he accepted. Gary Kuntz was invited by e-mail and also a message to him on Face book. As of the writing of this letter, no response has been received either accepting or declining the invitation. The only communication saying he was not coming was verbal to a third party stating he is unavailable until June 8 and would not be open to a debate with Ed Ballard. This is not factual enough for me to cancel the event.... |

The Celebrated Frogs of Calaveras County launch their annual promotional tour this weekend. Every year the amphibians hit the road to build excitement for the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. This year’s event is May 13-16 at Frogtown in Angels Camp. Accompanying the frogs on their promotional tour are the Calaveras Frog Wranglers, a group of volunteers dedicated to the history and community pride reflected in the 82-year-old Jumping Frog Jubilee....
