CAR Candidates Night...All The Candidates Made Statements And District 5 & 3 Answered Questions. Full Meeting Video Enclosed

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/28/2014 08:16 PM
Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Association of Realtors held their county wide Candidates Night at the Bret Harte Theatre last Thursday night. The evening was significant for several reasons first and foremost it allowed all the attendees to see and hear those running for office in the June 3rd. We recorded the event and had a bit of trouble with the video but ended up getting it in a somewhat presentable format. We broke it down into two sections. The first part being the candidate's statements for all of the elected Department Heads, Judges Races and the District 3 and District 5 Supervisorial candidates. It was a lightly attended event possibly because it was at a "Neutral Site" and not at a venue within either of the hotly contested Supervisors races....

PILT Bill Gains Legislative Momentum

Posted by: Andy_Johnson on 04/24/2014 11:30 AM
Sacramento, CA ... The Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) sponsored SB 1410 (Wolk/Nielsen) passed out of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water on consent. SB 1410 is now headed to the Senate Appropriations Committee. SB 1410 will appropriate monies to 36 counties for outstanding obligations relating to Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) payments. “Small, rural counties have been encumbered by unpaid PILT payments for more than a decade, all while trying to maintain the services and programs that our residents rely on,” said Nate Beason, RCRC Chair and Nevada County Supervisor. “Collecting these long overdue payments and getting the state back on track with annual payments has been a crusade of RCRC’s, and we thank Senator Wolk, Senator Nielsen, and the 23 other bipartisan co-authors for their leadership on this critical rural county issue.”
