Updated West Point Community Grant Construction Schedule

SAN ANDREAS, CA –The West Point USDA and Project 84 potable water pipeline replacement grant project is significantly ahead of schedule due to the hard work of the contractor Mozingo Construction. The mainline pipe replacement project has been completed and Mozingo is in the process of installing the service connections. It is estimated that the service line work will be completed by September 28, 2012. Mozingo is planning on paving Main Street and Highway 26 starting on Saturday September 29, 2012. Mozingo has rearranged their schedule to insure there is no conflict with Lumber Jack Day events. Paving is expected to be completed by October 5, 2012...

Arnold, CA...Stop by Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE). We'll be open THURS. - SAT., 10-5. We will have approximately 12 kitties available to meet you this week. We're currently having our September BLACK CAT-A-THON! The adoption donation for cats & kittens who are at least 75% black will be only $25 this month, which includes Tuxedos & Tortoiseshells. There will be 3 kitties at the adoption center who qualify for the special. They would love to meet you!

San Andreas, CA...CAL-FIRE has issued what will probably be the final update on what ended up being the 23 acre Michel Fire yesterday. Cooperating Agencies: California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; Central Fire, Mokelumne Hill Fire, San Andreas Fire, West Point Fire. The fire damaged the deck of one house; one barn damaged, one pump house destroyed. Full details enclosed...

Forward Progress of Michel Fire Has Been Stopped. 23 Acres, 1 Structure Damaged, 50% Contained

Mountain Ranch, CA...The Michel Incident is at 5000 Block Michel Road, Mountain Ranch and is 23 acres and 50% contained. It was first reported at 12:16pm. There are 15 Engines, 4 Fire Crews, 1 Buldoxer, 2 Air Tankers, 1 Helicopter, 4 Water Tenders and 1 Air Attack. 140 Personnel are currently assigned to the fire. In addition to CAL-FIRE Cooperating Agencies are: California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; Central Fire, Mokelumne Hill Fire, San Andreas Fire, West Point Fire. and 1 structure was damaged. Pink Lights In The Night Will Shine In Calaveras County for Breast Cancer Awarenes

San Andreas, CA... Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital (MTSJH) is once again promoting Pink in The Night in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital will be promoting the importance of the fact that early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The entire community is invited to participate in "Pink in the Night‟ opening ceremony October 1st, in Valley Springs at the Terrace‟s (Common Grounds) at 6:00pm. All survivors and participants will be able to light a candle in tribute to those that are currently battling breast cancer, or in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle, and ones that have survived the disease. “This is the fifth year that the Mark Twain Health Care District has funded the Pink Lights,” commented Mark Twain District Board Member Dr. Peter Oliver. “On behalf of the board, we are thankful to be able to promote this community wide breast cancer awareness event.”
