Caltrans Suspends Mountain Counties Bridge Rails Project on Hwy 4, 88, 89 Until Spring 2022

Alpine County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has suspended the Mountain Counties Bridge Rails project due to the recent Tamarack Fire and seasonal winter suspension in Alpine County. Construction operations will resume in spring 2022 at the following locations: The Silver Creek Bridge on Route 4 between the Centerville Flat and Silver Creek campgrounds. Guard rails will be upgraded, and the bridge deck will be repaved. The West Fork Carson River Bridge on Route 88 at the top of Woodfords Canyon. Guard rails will be upgraded, and the bridge deck will be repaved. The Markleeville Creek Bridge on Route 89 in Markleeville will be replaced. The West Fork Carson River Bridge on the old Route 88 at Shingle Mill Flats will be blocked off for vehicular access but will remain open for pedestrian access. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in summer 2023.

Caltrans Traffic Advisories August 15 - 21 in Amador County

Amador County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform highway construction operations on State Route 104 from the Amador/Sacramento County Line to Sutter Lane beginning Sunday, August 15, through Friday, August 20, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Mototorists should expect 10 minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible.

COVID-19 Surge in Amador

Amador County, CA...Amador County Public Health reports 156 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 2,193. The current cases include 78 males and 78 females; 26 children under the age of 18 years, 79 aged 18-49, 27 aged 50-64, 24 age 65 and above; 33 residing in Ione, 35 in Jackson, 19 living in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 17 in Pine Grove, 12 residing in Pioneer, 36 in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 4 residing in Volcano. 959 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in 2021 to date. Of the new cases this week, 33 were vaccinated.

Jackson, CA...James "Jimmy" Vincent Pisano 6/26/1959 - 7/28/2021. James "Jimmy" Vincent Pisano, 62, returned to his heavenly home on July 28th of 2021 after a valiant battle with Cancer and Dementia. His devotion to Christian Faith and deep belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.


James was born to the late Gerald and Sandra Pisano in Mountain View, CA on June 26th of 1959. A U.S. Air Force Veteran and a Graduate of California State University-Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree. He was formerly of Sacramento, CA but had resided in Jackson, CA, where he entered Eternal Life on July 28th of 2021.

Stockton Man Succumbs While Swimming in Lake Camanche

Valley Springs, CA...8-8-21 1330 mid 20’ male from Stockton was swimming near the eucalyptus point Lake Camanche. Experienced difficulty went under water. Calaveras county marine safety deputies, East Bay MUD Rangers and Amador SO were dispatched to assist in locating the victim. He was located at about 5:00pm by CCSO divers in about 8 feet of water, 50 feet from shore.
