FIRE NEWS....Two Small Grass Fires Being Reported in Calaveras County |

There are two small vegetation fires being reported in Calaveras County right now. One at Prussian Hill at Rail Road Flat that is 1/2 to 3/4 of an acre. Crews are on scene now and it is not spreading. The 2nd is a small grass fire at Hwy 26 at Garner Place which is already under control according to CAL Fire. Will update you as needed.

San Andreas, CA....The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will suspend all burning permits within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County as of 8AM, Tuesday May 6, 2008. The official proclamation will follow under separate cover.....

CAL FIRE Prepares To Keep the Public Safe During Fire Season and Year Round |

San Andreas, CA.....With rising temperatures, rapidly drying vegetation, and the onset of summer weather patterns, CAL FIRE’s Tuolumne Calaveras Unit (TCU) is preparing for an early start to the 2008 fire season. 74 seasonal firefighters were hired on April 28, 2008 and are completing training this week. This early hiring of seasonal staff is in addition to the 12 seasonal firefighters currently employed in TCU. Starting Monday May 5, these firefighters will staff the Unit’s 15 stations 24 hours per day. In addition to fire engines, 1....

Mountain Ranch, CA...CAL Fire is reporting an escaped debris burn that spread to 1/4 acre of vegetation on April 29th at 6721 Quartz Mine Road in Mountain Ranch. No injuries or dollar damage reported. Full CAL Fire report enclosed.....

Minor Injury Collision Reported This Morning....Vehicle vs. Tree |

A 32 year old male from Valley Springs suffered minor injuries after his vehicle collided into a tree at Hwy 26 just east of Driver Road this morning at around 7:00am. The driver sought his own medical aid. Full CHP release enclosed....

San Andreas, CA...CHP is reporting a minor injury injury accident with ambulance responding. There is a big rig blocking the lane at Hwy 49. Please use caution in this area. An 18 year old woman from San Andreas suffered minor injuries this morning after her vehicle hit a tree. Due to her wearing a seatbelt and the air bag, serious injuries were prevented.
