Current Exhibit Shows 15 Calaveras Artists’ Version of “Life’s Journeys” |

San Andreas, CA...The first ever “themed” show of the Gallery Group of the Calaveras Arts Council is now on public view in its gallery on Main Street in San Andreas. The exhibit titled “Life’s Journeys” features 15 artists’ interpretations of that theme--all are new works in a variety of mediums. See a wide range of images that includes fishing scenes, old doors, sandhill cranes, antique dolls, and even a large realistic watercolor painting of Hillary Clinton as she looked during her “journey” in 1993. All of the works are for sale, with a few exceptions....

Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital Gets Ready For an Outbreak |

San Andreas, CA...A functional Emergency Management Exercise was held at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital on January 29th. The purpose of the exercise was to test the hospital’s ability to react to a community disaster; in this case an influx of patients who have flu-like symptoms and may be infectious. Regional Occupational Program (ROP) students portrayed as patients began arriving at the Emergency Department at 5:30 a.m. Objectives of the exercise included following proper protocols for identifying infectious patients, proper isolation of infectious patients, timely implementation of an Incident Command Center and notification to the county’s Public Health Department, access to resources such as staff and supplies, designation of an alternative care site for the influx of patients and timely identification of the disease. The exercise lasted until noon....

San Andreas, C.A…. Calaveras County Water District plans to move from a bi-monthly billing plan for CCWD customers to a monthly plan, which will cost the district more than $30,000 each year….

CHP and Ambulance are responding to an injury-collision at Hwy 49 in San Andreas....There was a minor injury collision today at approximately 11:40am at Hwy 49 and Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas. The injured party was transported to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital, treated for neck and shoulder pain and released. The full CHP release is enclosed...
