Bear Valley Cross Country Says "Thank You Mother Nature!" |

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Cross Country was blessed by Mother Nature this week when we received a whopping four feet of new snow! The snow level was predicted to be above 7,500 feet, but luckily the snow level stayed below Bear Valley. We could not have asked for more perfect snow conditions for the upcoming Presidents' Holiday Weekend and Ski Week. Aspen Forest, Bjornloppet, Quick Connect, Osborne Ridge, Ridgerunner, Stanislaus Lookout, as well as all of the meadows trails, and the tubing and sledding areas are all open and groomed. By Friday afternoon, we plan to have Equipe groomed too. Come up to Bear Valley and enjoy the best conditions of the season!

Fireworks, Torchlight Parades, Crab Feeds, Races, Tubing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing, Fat Biking and much, much more. Mother Nature brought the snow and crews have been hard at work opening up more and more terrain. Bear Valley will have the entire upper mountain open including Polar Express their high speed, quad chair. Come out on February 15th for our WINTER EXPLOSION! We will be featuring kids movies, dinner, a torch light parade, ski patrol info booth and FIREWORKS!!! Dinner prices are adults $16 and children $11 (ages 6-12). 5 and Under free. Oyster & Lobster Shooters
1 8-ounce steamed lobster tail, 8 raw oysters, Cocktail Sauce, get recipe here, Green Tabasco sauce, Garnish, Lime zest, Thinly sliced green onion, 1. Place the lobster tail on a cutting board and cut into 8 equal slices. 2. Place 1 oyster in a double shot glass, top with a slice of lobster, a heaping tablespoon of the cocktail sauce, a splash of green Tabasco sauce, some lime zest and a few green, onion. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Follow up with some sparkling wine & romance!

Murphys, CA....This year marked the 7th Annual Super Bowl Chili Cook Off held here at The Murphys Historic Hotel. It was the first “Chilly” day this year but it didn’t stop the 17 Teams and 176 Tasters from having a Great Time! The 17 teams competed for “The Grand Champion” Judges Choice Award & 4 People’s Choice Awards that included the “Best Theme”Award. This year we helped raise $1420.00 for “Hospice of Amador & Calaveras” and 135 cans of food for “The Resource Connection” (Calaveras County Food Bank). These totals are more than double from our 1st Annual in 2008, this was our Best Year Yet! This is always a great community-supported event!
