Big Trees, Ca...Members of Arts of Bear Valley are busy preparing for their upcoming art show and sale at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The painting and photography show opens Tuesday, August 12th, and closes Monday, September 1st. The hours will be from 10 AM to 5 PM daily. In addition to original paintings, giclee prints, photography and note cards will be on display for purchase. The park has seen many exciting changes over the past year and in keeping with the new look and upgraded facilities, Arts of Bear Valley will present its show in the brand new classroom, which is prat of the Education Building. Although smaller, than its previous location, Jack Knight Hall, the new space has superior lighting and is highly visible to park visitiors and promises to be an outstanding venue for the show. There will be another significant change this year. Only subject matter found in Calaveras Big Trees State Park will be accepted into the show. At first, this seemed to be a daunting task for the group. After researching the vast amount of flora and fauna, colorful history and outstanding scenery which encompass the many acres of the park; they took on the challenge and are creating an impressive array of beautiful original work for the show....

Mokelumne Hill, Ca...As the year marches on, so does the Artwork in Deborah Marlene's. "I belong to the Arts of Bear Valley. We have two back to back Art Shows in the Summer; the current one at the Perry Walther Building during the Bear Valley Music Festival and one at Big Trees State Park beginning on August 11th. For this reason, it is with great pleasure that I welcome the Klassen's of San Andreas to show on all the walls of my Gallery this month. It is not often that you meet an "Artistic Couple". Randy and Joyce have been married for almost 33 years. Previous articles about them, have told extensively about their sharing their love for God and Art. Randy is an ordained Minister, who worked 40 years in the Evangelical Covenant Church of America. There was a 6 year break during that time and from 1981 to 1987, Randy and Joyce became fully involved in doing art work professionally. This adventure included art shows and galleries in California, a cultural exchange in China, and a three week experience if sketching and painting in France...

Amador County, Ca...Artists of all disciplines who live in Amador and Calaveras Counties are invited to submit qualifications and samples of work for an opportunity to participate in a project called “River Reflections.” The deadline to submit an application on line is midnight, August 22, 2014. Artists selected as Finalist Artists will be invited to create work inspired by the Mokelumne River, and they will have until December 1st to do so. Visual artists - in both two and three dimensional genres- dancers, musicians, composers, actors, literary, and video artists are encouraged to discover the application details at www.amadorarts.org. Last spring AmadorArts submitted the “River Reflections” project for a “Creative California Communities” Grant from the California Arts Council, a State Agency. Turns out, the local arts council has become one of 24 successful grantees out of 157 applicants statewide. AmadorArts, in partnership with Calaveras County Arts Council, the Foothill Conservancy and East Bay Municipal Utilities District, will spotlight the arts to increase awareness of the upper Mokelumne River, appreciation of its beauty and recreational opportunities, and the need for conservation. The inspired art, music, dance, and stories will be showcased in events scheduled in the first five months of 2015.... |
