This new system – called Paymentus – was put into place as a direct result of CCWD Customer Service representatives listening to customer feedback. Valley Springs, CA...A 60 year old Valley Springs man was driving his Ford F250 southbound on Camanche Parkway South, south of Arapaho Way. A 40 year old Rail Road Flat woman was driving her 2003 Chevy Tahoe northbound on Camanche Parkway South approaching the pickup. For an unknown reason, he allowed his F250 to drift onto the right shoulder and collide with a dirt embankment. His vehicle then crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, directly into the path of the Tahoe. She took evasive action, but was unable to avoid a collision. The left front of the Ford subsequently collided with the left front of the Chevy. The force of the collision left both vehicles disabled along the east shoulder of Camanche Parkway South.

San Andreas, CA...The leading cause of death for Americans 15-20 years old is motor vehicle collisions, (According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the CHP’s goal is to reduce the death rate among teenagers as the result of these collisions. In order to address this alarming trend, the CHP developed a program called Start Smart. Start Smart is aimed at helping newly licensed and future licensed teenage drivers understand the critical responsibilities of driving and to understand that accidents do happen, but collisions are 100 percent preventable.

Sacramento, CA...I have just returned from the most recent Governor’s Tree Mortality Committee meeting in Sacramento and wanted to take a moment to update you with new developments and information. The most recent Ariel Survey of tree mortality was performed on 5/19/16 and is reporting that there are approximately 693,000 dead trees in Calaveras County, and an additional 7.2 Million dead trees in the Sequoia National Forest. There is approximately 37 Million dollars allocated to the USFS for tree removal and has been funded for startup costs for crews working high hazard Counties. In the event of a major wild fire these funds could be diverted if the need arises.

San Andreas, CA...Fire investigators from the CAL FIRE Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit have determined that negligent use of equipment and improperly installed electrical systems on marijuana cultivation sites have caused several fires in the past few weeks.
San Andreas, CA...Dean was born in Waterford, CA on July 4th, 1922 and passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016 at Avalon Healthcare with Wanda & Lance Oneto by his side. He attended Oakdale High School. After school he entered the Army where he was a member of the 45th Tank Battalion in WWII driving truck for Patton's 3rd Army and Liberated Dachau Concentration Camp.

San Andreas, CA...The San Andreas Community Covenant Church (http://saccc.net/) has called Kevin Diamond to be their new senior pastor. Pastor Diamond comes with a wealth of experience working within church ministry, having spent the last nine years at Faith Covenant Church (Columbus, OH) where Pastor Diamond served as the Associate & Youth Pastor. Completing his Masters of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary Pastor Diamond entered into the call process of the Evangelical Covenant Church which brought him into conversations with the Senior Pastor Search Committee of SACCC. Pastor Diamond preached his first sermon as senior pastor on June 12, 2016 and the congregation looks forward to his installation on July 31, 2016.
