Posted by: thepinetree on 05/13/2014 07:22 PM
Bear Valley, CA....Music Director, Michael Morgan, and newly appointed Executive Director, Tara Kayton, have planned an exciting three-week Festival with fifteen varied concerts and events to present in the village of Bear Valley for the 46th annual Bear Valley Music Festival to be held July 25-August 10. The vitality of the Festival will be seen in the robust classical music series and the exciting return of 2013 favorites The Delphi Trio, pianist, Richard Glazier, soprano Shawnette Sulker and jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti. There will be a unique new orchestral tango concerto composed and performed by bandoneon player JP Jofre from Argentina. The Festival is also thrilled to open with folk string band The Brothers Comatose and popular blues guitarist Tommy Castro & The Painkillers. BVMF’s dedication to family programming will continue with the Classical Stars of Tomorrow and a fun-filled kids concert with violinist, Dawn Harms. Three special events will be: Moonlit Masquerade gala and auction, an evening of wine paired with chamber music, and a day of collaboration with Alpine county to celebrate its 150th anniversary with bluegrass band Iron Horse. The final concert will feature violinist Stephanie Chase and pianist Sara Davis Buechner in an all-Beethoven program....

Feeney Park Has New Signs

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/12/2014 09:07 AM
Murphys, CA...Feeney Park, the heavily used recreation area adjacent to Albert Michelson Elementary School in Murphys, has a new entrance sign thanks to a gift from Nellie Redpath, Wrangler Barnum, and Becky Reagan and their human companions. (The three canines can be seen most mornings chasing balls and frolicking with each other in the park.)

Complete Government Center Frog Jump Results

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/11/2014 10:46 AM
San Andreas, CA...We had already posted that Marcia Thompson & "Morph" had taken the top stop but we thought we would pass along some random video clips and over 140 photos of the event. Jockeying our local mascots seems easy enough until you try it. On Tuesday it seemed to take a woman's coaxing to get our green friends to leap. Some of the biggest guys in the crowd from the public works department barely got them to budge. There was one petite female whom shall remain nameless who not only scared her frog into movement but scared many in attendance as well. One has to assume from the harmless looking packaging on the outside that her bark must be worse than her bite.....

The 2014 Fair & Frog Jump Lead Up Events....Sponsors Night & Friends, CVB & Chamber Mixer (Video Enclosed)

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/11/2014 12:50 PM
Angels Camp, CA...As the momentum builds every year for the rural America tradition, fun and pageantry that is the Fair & Frog Jump Jubilee some events stand out as signature events. It is during these events that our local hazing hits high gear. One of the rights of passage for any prospective beauty queen here is to kiss a few frogs. Not a fake, close but not quite, but actual lips on a green amphibian. Why does it matter....well if your not from here you wouldn't understand. Also, if you are an elected, or hope to become one, planting lips somewhere on our green royalty from time to time just has to be done. If you don't and it becomes public knowledge you run the risk of your quest being in vain, or if you somehow managed to get elected without kissing a frog the only way to remove this electoral curse is to publicly and repeatedly make amorous protestations towards our green citizens. The best photos are the ones right after these in the gallery. These are the ones that catch the realization that they did actually kiss a frog....

Over 180 Photos Above...Very Few Are Actually of Frog Kissing. Most Are Of The Events. Video Is Enclosed....
