Alpine County, CA....There are two candidates running for the position of Alpine County Superior Court Judge in the June election, Karen Dustman and David DeVore. Here are partial statements from each. Karen Dustman: "My name is Karen Dustman and I am running for Superior Court Judge of Alpine County. As you've probably heard, Alpine's presiding judge, Richard Specchio openly endorses me. That courageous endorsement alone speaks volumes. Alpine County, CA....Alpine County Board of Supervisors Chair Terry Woodrow announced today that Pamela Knorr has been selected by the Board of Supervisors to become Alpine County’s first County Administrative Officer. “Pamela is a well experienced person who the Board feels is a great fit for Alpine County to lead us into the future” said Woodrow. Knorr has over 20 years of experience in the public sector including having served as Director and Assistant Director of Child Support Services in Placer County and Supervisor/Program Manager for Child Support Services in Napa County. Susan Skalski named as Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor

Sonora, CA.... Susan Skalski, currently Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests in Northern Idaho, will be the new Forest Supervisor of the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, US Forest Service officials announced today. "I am very excited Susan will be joining us in Region 5, said Pacific Southwest Regional Forester Randy Moore, "Her strong background in natural resources makes her a great fit as the Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus National Forest."....

There was also a wonderful Survivors Quilt on Display to help promote the upcoming Relay 4 Life. The consent agenda items sailed through including the Mintier & Associates item amending their contract for work on the General Plan. The Big Ticket items...

They will be discussing Relay for Life 2008; A fairgrounds update; Tyler Summersett from the CCOG will lead a Public Hearing regarding Unmet Transit needs; Tim McSorley also of the CCOG, will give a Hwy 4 Bypass update; Mary Kelly will discuss the Annual Youth Parade; and there will be a 2008 Rehabilitation project possible award. Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Unit Has Exceeded 10,000 Hours of Service 3rd Year in a Row!

Calaveras County, CA....Don Crouch, Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Operations Lieutenant, reported today that the Volunteer Unit exceeded 10,000 service hours for the third consecutive year. This outstanding performance is unprecedented in the 19 year history of the Sheriff's Volunteers. Several active volunteers retired from the unit in 2007 resulting in 1,000 hour drop in service work, from a high of 11,600 hours in 2006.....

Angels Camp, CA...The path of the new Angels Camp Bypass is now clearly visible along most portions of the route. Heavy equipment has been moving trees and debris, crews have been setting fences, temporary construction sheds and offices are coming to life....
