The artwork of Kayla Fitzsimmons has been chosen to be the featured design on the 13th annual Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Art Auction poster. This past April, students in Suzanne Smith's Calaveras High School art class participated in a contest sponsored by Hospice of Amador & Calaveras to find a new design for their 2010 Art Auction poster. The students were asked to work with any medium they preferred and to use the themes of life and death and what hospice means to them. Fitzsimmons interpretation of the theme is a beautiful, brightly colored butterfly.....

Dance Parties Swing into Jackson!

Jackson, CA...Starting in June, downtown Jackson will come to life every other weekend when Amador County bands perform at the inaugural Saturday Dance Parties. Join the fun, bring the kids and enjoy live music while you dance under the colorful awning of a giant parachute in the square of Petkovich Park. The park is in historic downtown Jackson, across from Bank of America at the intersection of Water Street and Broadway. The event is free and open to the public. Fat Freddy’s hot dogs, Italian shaved ice, tamales from Café Coco and other refreshments will be available for sale. Jackson, CA...We have been following this and it has developed from an accident with few details to an incident with major injuries and a party life flighted to Mercy San Juan. All lanes are still blocked on Latrobe Rd just South of the Eldorado County line from a head on collision that happened about 6:15am this morning...

Music for Flute and Harp at Amador City's Imperial Hotel

The Mother Lode Friends of Music, the regional organization of classical music performance, will be presenting a concert of music for flute and harp at Amador City's historic Imperial Hotel on Sunday, April 25, starting at 3 p.m. The concert will feature the Winter Moon Duo, comprising harpist Beverly Wesner-Hoehn and flutist Elizabeth Coronata in a program including music by Fauré, Villa-Lobos, Bach, Hovhaness, Ibert, Kupferman and Persichetti. The cost per person is $25, which includes a reception with appetizers prepared by the hotel kitchen's culinary staff and wines of Shenandoah Valley's Domaine de la Terre Rouge-Easton. Guests may also stay for the optional prix fixe dinner at the hotel, at an additional $25 per person. The hotel is offering a special concert and dinner package with one night's accommodations for two for $180.....
