West Point, CA...Lumberjack Day! This West Point Logging celebration is scheduled for the 41st year on Saturday, October 3rd. This year’s theme is “Let Freedom Ring!” and the Ladies of the VFW #832 are the Grand Marshals! As always the event will bring fun, family, food, fast cars, familiar faces, handmade finery, floats, fabulous music and phenomenal flying sawdust (go logging competition!) to the forefront! Sutter Creek, CA...The Boot Scootin’ BBQ will be a night of live perfectly-performed country western music by the unequaled Slade Rivers Band, line dancing, a full western-style dinner, a local wine and beer bar, and bocce ball. On Saturday, August 22, from 7 – 10 pm, herd your friends to the cool, protected outdoor area of the Italian Picnic Grounds, Sutter Creek in Amador County for this annual fundraiser for the arts. 66th Annual Murphys Homecoming Saturday, July 18th |

Murphys, CA...Everyone is invited to the 66th annual Murphys Homecoming to be held Saturday, July 18, in the cool confines of the town’s historic park. Activities will kick off at 11:30 a.m. with a concert by the Calaveras Community Band, 90 minutes of rousing music ranging from Sousa marches to Broadway show tunes. At noon, the traditional Old Timers Luncheon will be served free of charge to anyone who has attained the age of 70 and has lived in the Murphys, Vallecito, and Douglas Flat area for at least ten years. This popular event is made possible by a generous contribution from the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Ruby Parlor #46. To reserve a place at the table, eligible guests must call Sue Friedman at 728-8183 by July 15.
