Tuolumne County, CA..The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various road construction activities and bridge work on State Route 108 (SR-108) from Sanguinetti Overhead/ SR-120 to Hess Avenue. Work will occur as follows: The off-ramp from eastbound SR-108 to Sanguinetti Overhead will close beginning Monday, October 22, 2012, through Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m....

Vehicle Theft and Arrest Crystal Falls Area

Sonora, CA...On 10/12/12 at around 1130 a.m. Dep. Rod Hobbs was patrolling the Crystal falls area and noticed a vehicle stopped at Crystal Lake Drive and Wasatch Drive, idling in the roadway. Due to a rash of burglaries in the area Dep. Hobbs became suspicious and ran the license plate. While waiting for a return the vehicle began to move down Crystal Lake Drive. Dispatch advised Dep. Hobbs the vehicle was reported stolen. He followed the car for a short distance before the driver abruptly pulled into a driveway and stopped. The passenger immediately tried to get out of the car. Dep. Hobbs ordered both occupants at gunpoint, to stay in the car.

Sonora, CA..Harvey and Patricia Rhodes will be honored at the 12th annual Joie de Vie Gala when they are presented with the Irving Symons Award for long-term, outstanding community service. The Gala, held this year on October 21 at Ironstone Vineyards, raises funds for Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Patient Support Fund. During their 45 years’ residence in Tuolumne County, the Rhodes, Pat and “Dusty,” have given much to the community. They were founding administrators of Columbia College, Dusty having served as its first President. They both ....

Sonora, CA...The City of Sonora advertised and tested for the classification of Lateral Police Officer. Matthew Sieperda successfully completed all related testing, as well as an extensive background investigation, before being appointed to the position of Police Officer. Matthew Sieperda was born in California and lived in Fresno and Kerman before moving to Nebraska at the age of 11. He graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial Nebraska, population of 2,071...

SR-108 East Sonora Bypass Blasting Scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Sonora, CA...On Wednesday, October 17, 2012, Caltrans crews will be blasting near the construction site for the State Route 108 East Sonora Bypass Phase II Project. Blasting is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. and Caltrans anticipates being done around 6:00 p.m. Roads will not be closed for blasting and traffic should not be impacted.
