Arnold, CA...We just spoke to Lisa Williams at CAL Fire....The Airola fires(Big trees/Dorrington area) will be declared Contained at 8pm this evening and Controlled by this Wednesday, June 25th. Yeah!! Great Job everyone! Acreage still the same at 20 acres. Update enclosed.....

Ten Lightning Start Fires on the Stanislaus National Forest By ~ Jerry Snyder |

SONORA, Calif. (June 22, 2008)... At least ten lightning fires were started Saturday across the Stanislaus National Forest after a series of storm cells passed over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The fires were ignited between about 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. yesterday. Most fires were small and burned either a single tree or a few acres with low flame lengths. Patrols are monitoring their progress with some fires already contained. The largest fire is located on the north side of the Tuolumne River Canyon near North Mountain. The North Mountain Fire is as large as 500 acres burning in trees and grasses dispersed among rocky terrain. The fire is moving towards the peak at North Mountain where a lookout tower and radio repeater station are located....

Valley Springs, CA....After much consideration the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is pleased to announce the organization is endorsing the Trinitas project. The DSA made the announcement Friday evening during the Valley Springs Area Business Association mixer. DSA President Tracy Busby told those in attendance the DSA understands the lean economic times the County faces and believes the Ridge at Trinitas could help generate a much needed boost to the County coffers as well as other businesses in the County with little impact to County services or infrastructure.....

Vallecito, CA.....There is a 5 acre vegetation fire burning at Parrotts Ferry Road and Natural Bridges. Parrots Ferry Road is closed to through traffic. More to come.....UPDATE #1.. Now has spread to 10 acres in size. Personnel are saying it is spreading up hill into the canyon due to the winds. Units from out of County and CDF are on scene. No structures involved. Both sides of Parrots Ferry are involved. Continued UPDATES Enclosed....

San Andreas, CA...We just spoke with CAL-Fire's Lisa Williams and she said they are working two small fires right now. The first is at Kennedy and Hwy 108 and is about 3 acres and the second was just called in and is off of Old Wards Ferry Rd. We will update you if necessary. (Update) They are releasing assets from the Kennedy Grass Fire and The Wards Ferry Fire that was called in is now a non issue. So it looks like our local fire personnel have knocked down another fire or two this afternoon...

Sonora, CA....The Forest Service today announced that a portion of Eagle Meadow Road (5N01) is scheduled to be paved, with preparation work beginning Monday, June 23, and paving to commence on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. While preparation work prior to paving is underway, traffic may encounter temporary delays.....

CHP is reporting a collision at 7632 Hwy 12 in Valley Springs. Traffic has been opened to One-Way Traffic. Updated to Minor Injury. The driver was an 80 year old male from Valley Springs who for some unknown reason ended up colliding with a power pole. He was transported to Mark Twain St.Josephs with minor injuries. Full CHP release enclosed.....

Fire Restrictions Go Into Effect in High Hazard Areas With Maps Enclosed |

Sonora, CA....The Forest Service today announced that, because of high fire danger, effective Wednesday, June 25, 2008 a Forest Order enacting temporary fire restrictions will go into effect in High Hazard Areas of the Stanislaus National Forest. The fire restriction prohibits campfires, briquette barbecues, and smoking outside developed campgrounds in designated High Hazard Areas of the Forest. San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be conducting a training burn on the north side of Don Pedro Dam at Bonds Flat Road. The burn is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 19. Approximately nine acres of grass will be burned during the exercise......
