At the top of the tradition list in Angels Camp and Calaveras County is each year's Calaveras Saddle Queen & Miss Calaveras Contestants spending a bit of up close and personal time with the Celebrated Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County. The Vatican has Papal Rings and Calaveras County has its Frogs.

Columbia, CA...Volunteer fire crews from around the western United States will take part in the competition, presented by Columbia Volunteer Fire Department Engine Co. No. 1. The muster parade begins at 12 Noon (Columbia time) on Main Street in Columbia. Other events include hose cart races, bucket brigade, skills completion, hand pumper contest. Admission is free.

Bear Valley, CA...We've had a good turn out on the tubing hills last weekend. As a result we will be open for one more weekend. Don't miss out on the last sledding & tubing days. Sunday May 5th. We will be having a Cinco de Mayo BBQ here at the Adventure Company this Sunday. Come by for tacos, chips, salsa and cold Mexican beer! Although our trails are closed we still have snowshoe rentals available to use at any of the snow parks in the area.

Murphys, CA...The Angels Camp Business Association's 13th Annual Taste of Calaveras. Took place on April 27th at Ironstone Vineyards, this event showcased the food, wine and art from county. Guests received a commemorative wine glass, and tastings from 25+ local restaurants and wineries all under one roof. Calaveras artists and crafters were displaying and selling their work along with live music from local musician Nicholas Lefler. There was also a silent auction and demonstrations. It was another great local event.
