West Long Branch, NJ...Donald Trump has increased his GOP vote share since last month’s debate. The latest Monmouth University Poll of Republican voters nationwide also finds Ben Carson moving into second place, Jeb Bush slipping to third, and Scott Walker fading into the background. The poll also tested Trump directly against nine opponents in head-to-head match-ups and found that only Carson is able to get the better of him.

Hamden, CT...Vice President Joseph Biden runs slightly better than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton against leading Republican contenders in the 2016 presidential sweepstakes, and has the best favorability rating among top Republican and Democratic candidates, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.

West Long Branch, NJ...Donald Trump holds a sizable lead in the first southern contest of the GOP primary season according to the Monmouth University Poll. Three-in-ten voters who are likely to participate in South Carolina’s GOP primary are backing Trump, with Ben Carson placing a distant second. In general, Palmetto State Republican primary voters say the country needs a president from outside of politics over someone with government experience.

Piedmont, CA...Just before 7am this morning a 4.0 on the Richter scale shaker started off Monday Morning in the Bay Area. BART was temporarily put on hold but everything is getting back to normal. The epicenter was 1 mile north of Piedmont, 2mi ENE of Emeryville, 3mi NE of Oakland, 3mi ZE of Berkeley and 65mi SW of Sacramento, CA. The tembler was on the Hayward fault. The quake was on the Hayward Fault. A bit more on the Hayward from the USGS is below...

I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare. A more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week."

Washington, DC...President Obama announced the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s finalClean Power Plan yesterday, which will cut U.S. carbon pollution from the power sector by 870 million tons, or 32 percent below 2005 levels, in 2030. Power plants are the largest drivers of climate change in the United States, accounting for roughly one-third of all carbon pollution emissions, but there were no national limits on carbon pollution until today.
