Jamestown, CA...Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) will offer just two more behind-the-scenes Shop Tours of the historic site in 2014. The unique and very popular tours will be available on Tuesday, October 14 and Tuesday, November 11 (Veteran’s Day), from 10 a.m. to noon each day. As part of this special opportunity, visitors will have the chance to get an up-close viewing of exciting repair work currently underway on Sierra No. 28, a historic “workhorse” steam locomotive. ...

San Andreas, CA...Twenty three artists and ten locations are the people to meet and the places to visit on Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28, 2014. Locations are open from 10am to 5:00pm each day. The Calaveras Artists Studio Tour is free to the public. Maps can be found on-line at www.calaverasarts.org or picked up at the Arts Council in San Andreas, Victoria’s Frame Shop, CAMPS Restaurant, and Calaveras Visitors Bureau in Angels Camp, the Senior Center in San Andreas, Mokelumne Hill Library, and many other locations in the county and surrounding foothills. ...

Frog Jump World Champions To Appear On Steve Harvey Show |

Frogtown, USA....Laura and Riley Kitchell hop on a plane next week to Chicago to film a segment on the national syndicated talk show, "The Steve Harvey" show. Laura was the World Champion Frog Jump winner in 2012 and Riley was in 2013. This is first time a mother and son have won consecutively. The show is being filmed live but the air date has not been publicized. So stay tuned!

Murphys Historic Hotel's Hotel Hell Premiere Party Was Heavenly |

Murphys, CA...Last night was the premier party for Gordon Ramsay's “Hotel Hell” episode featuring the Murphys Historic Hotel. It was a great night. Hundreds of locals packed the place to see who made the final cut during editing and onto the big screen. The owners of the Murphys Hotels agreed to do the show to promote and draw attention to the area. In reality the hotel's numbers had been steadily climbing so much of the premise of rescuing the hotel from doom was more about setting the hook for the show. The show needs problems to solve as the premise for the show. That said, the owners have implemented many of the improvements from the show and time in the limelight has elevated their game...
