First Fridays in the Park Kicks Off with Brian Jirka and The Cabby Band

Murphys, CA...Brian Jirka and the Cabby Band will blend their stylish creations of pop, rock and soul into a unique experience for the whole family when they kick off the Murphys Community Club’s popular First Fridays in the Park series on Friday, June 1, 5:30 p.m. From June to September, First Friday in the Park will feature performances by a variety of musical groups playing in the familiar gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m. Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a small town America gathering in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park. Food and beverages will be available to purchase and each event will have a community sponsor. Murphys Pour House and Murphys Irish Pub are the June sponsors.
The Risky Biscuits Kicked Off 2018 Brice Station Hilltop Concert Series

Murphys, CA...The 2018 Hilltop Concert Series kicked off their summer run with great local group Risky Biscuits.
Brice Station Vineyards venue will play host to concerts and Shakespeare now through September. Next up is Ted Z and the Wranglers on June 20th.

Independent Mercantile is hosting an artist reception for local artist Nannette Klass at our Main Street store
the ND&X on June 8th, 2018. We are both excited and honored to be the venue she has chosen to unveil her latest works. Nannette is an intuitive contemporary artist who works with subliminal messages, developing them into an
image through a process of construction, deconstruction and reconstruction. The image continually evolving until she feels the story or emotion is complete.
Columbia, CA...Sierra Repertory Theatre has awarded the preview performance of its production of the hit Broadway musical “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” to Mind Matters to be used as a major fundraiser. “We think this is a great way for people, young and old, to enjoy a wonderful evening in the theatre while helping Mind Matters to pursue its goal to help individuals and families cope with the consequences of autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities,” says Mona Kayton, the Mind Matters board member who is in charge of organizing the event.
Murphys, CA...The 2018 music season in Murphys Community Park will get an exciting and eclectic kick-off when the Calaveras Community Band presents a special Memorial Day concert under the direction of conductor Mic Harper on Monday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge for the program that will honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces in the past and those currently stationed around the world. The band will play a wide selection of music including tunes made famous by Benny Goodman, The Doors, Duke Ellington, and The Beatles. Aaron Copeland’s Appalachian Spring and Sousa Marches will also be included. “A little something for all musical tastes,” says Harper.
