Murphys, CA...Bicyclists from throughout Northern California and Nevada will journey to the historic gold rush town of Murphys to enjoy the spring beauty of Calaveras County and take part in the fifth annual Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride on Saturday, April 21. Murphys, CA...Feeney Park is holding its annual fundraiser, the Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride, Saturday, April 21, 2012. This cycling event is a ride that winds through Calaveras County, on either a 50 km course or a 100 km course. Both courses offer rest stops, wildflower viewing, rolling hills, historic towns, with climbing and zippy down hills. For the 100 km, a time trial will be an option. SAG Support is provided throughout the course....

Murphys, CA...The Murphys historic hotel Presents the Fifth Annual Chili cook-off Held on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th, 2012. Benefiting Hospice of Amador and Calaveras & The Resource Connection Food Bank! Chili Cook-Off Contestants: Entry fee is Five cans of food or $5. Each contestant must cook a minimum of 2 gallons of chili. Contestant Meeting with the Host will be held at 9:45 a.m. Judge’s Award will be based on: 1) good flavor, 2) texture, 3) consistency, 4) blend of spices, 5) aroma, 6) color. No added garnishes for this award....

Karen Henderson and her crew really put on a show not only to showcase their Wonderful Cupcake Shop but also give the world another peek at why Murphys and Calaveras county is one of The Great Places on the planet to be. Angels Camp, CA...(Update...We just received a call from Jeff Olson from Angels Theatre that apparently a local teenager posted that the Theatre was closing. Jeff was alarmed and wanted us to post a reassuring note to the Contrary!!! So hop in the car and go buy some popcorn and take in a movie and the best Theatre in the Mother Lode that plans on being the Anchor of Downtown Angels Camp for decades to come!!! Why not take in a movie the best....Angels 6 Theatres! Now playing: "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol", "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", "War Horse", "We Bought A Zoo", "Beauty and the Beast in 3D", and "Underworld: Awakening in 3D" which starts January 20th! The Mother Lode Friends of Music, the regional organization for classical music performances, presents its first concert of the new year on Sunday, January 29, starting at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, in Sutter Creek. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will feature selections for wind quintet, a combination comprising flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon that has been popular with composers for over two hundred years.
