Posted by: thepinetree on 06/07/2018 01:13 PM
Independent Mercantile is hosting an artist reception for local artist Nannette Klass at our Main Street store the ND&X on June 8th, 2018. We are both excited and honored to be the venue she has chosen to unveil her latest works. Nannette is an intuitive contemporary artist who works with subliminal messages, developing them into an image through a process of construction, deconstruction and reconstruction. The image continually evolving until she feels the story or emotion is complete.

Please join us in celebrating the continued work and journey of this very talented, ever evolving artist! Jill & Linda

Arts Council's Music in the Parks 2018 Concerts Every Wednesday From June 13 to August 22 (No concert on July 4)

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/31/2018 09:21 AM
San Andreas, CA...Winter is over and summer is finally out of storage; it’s time to liberate your lawn chairs and shake out your beach blankets, pack a picnic lunch and get ready for Music in the Parks. Music in the Parks, presented by the Calaveras County Arts Council once again celebrates summer on Wednesdays with 10 admission-free concerts throughout the county. The shows range from blues to bluegrass, rock and roll, and zydeco; the music is high-quality and the bands are popular, but the music series’ charm rests on community vibes. It’s a “little bit of Norman Rockwell,” according to Kathy Mazzaferro, executive director of the Calaveras Arts Council, “when neighbors get together with neighbors, sit out in the grass, dance, talk and listen to music.”

Valley Springs, CA...The 2nd annual Calaveras Wine, Cheese and Olive Festival is back bigger and even better August 4th at the LaContenta Golf Club in Valley Springs. Nestled at the base of the Gold Country foothills, this new, popular festival celebrates the Good Life the miners enjoyed with their riches: Wine, Olives and Cheese. Cheese and Olive purveyors, several local to the area, will be offering delicious samples of their craft. Live music and a silent auction will round out the evening.
