Lake Alpine has been better fishing due to the recent trout plants. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants,nymphs, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails.....

New Melones, this impoundment on the Stanislaus watershed continues to produce the finest Kokanee fishing here in Northern California. Kokes over two pounds are very common as witnessed by Ron Peterson of Sonora who took an easy limit on 8-08-08 off the spillway at 105'. Most of Ron's catch came on Uncle Larry's Spinners or Glitterbug Glow Hootchies scented with garlic Shoepeg corn trailed behind a Shasta Tackle U.V. Slingblade.....

Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. New Melones, CA....Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,213,243 acre-feet of water. The lake water level dropped three feet last week and is at 970 ft. above sea level and 118 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 76-79 degrees. Water is gin clear in the main lake, with a strong mud line forming at shore. ....
