Bear Valley Teams Speed Their Way into 2009 ~ By John Hamilton |

Bear Valley, CA...The local sports programs that have spawned Olympic, World Cup, X-Games, National Championship, Junior Olympic, National and International competitors are deep into their winter training camps as they tune up for the 2008/2009 season. The Bear Valley Race team already has a win and podium finishes in some of the early season races. Age ranges on these teams are from young first graders all the way to high school age. They are next generation competitors from skiing dynasties like the Rasmussen family and children of Olympic Gold Medalists in other sports mixed with the fresh dreams of many others striving to make their mark in the athletic world. The kids may be young but this is serious stuff...

Dont forget to buy your 2009 fishing licenses! Happy New Year! Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,143,140 acre-feet of water. Water level rose slightly this week, and is at 961 ft. above sea level and 127 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 52-54 degrees. The lake has turned over. Water is slightly stained to clear in the main lake.....

Water level rose slightly this week, and is at 960 ft. above sea level and 128 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 59-61 degrees. The lake has turned over. Water is slightly stained to clear in the main lake.....

Boreal, CA....The Auburn Ski Club Associates, Inc. played host to the Open Boreal "Give a Christmas" USSA/Far West Giant Slalom J4/J5 Ski Race this past weekend. This was a race for J4-5 Athletes who are between 9-12 years of age. This Open Race was a great chance for some of Bear Valley's top J4-5 racers who had had some early season training, to see how they could compete with Tahoe racers, who generally ski 3-4 times a week and in some cases every day. Many of the Tahoe athletes had been to training camps in Mammoth and Colorado this Fall. Bear Valley will not soon be forgotten in the North! .....

Bear Valley, CA....Bear Valley’s ski season officially opened last weekend and the 2008-09 team of fifteen Ambassadors are reaching out to guests on the Mountain. Rosie Sundell, Senior Director of Marketing for Bear Valley Mountain Resort, trained this year’s crew of Ambassadors walking them through procedures and practices that help visitors to the Mountain to feel right at home. Some of this year’s Ambassadors include folks who are retired as well as those whose full time jobs are in education, metal work, hair styling, and pastoring a church. ......

Ebbetts Pass Little League is recruiting players for the 2009 season! A registration form is available online at www.epll.us. The 2009 Registration material will be going out in early December. It will be mailed to all the 2008 season families. Additional registration forms are available on this website. Check your mailbox for the EPLL Newsletter/Registration the second week of December! Returning players can return the completed registration through the mail. Players new to the league must complete their registration in person at Michelson, Avery or Hazel Fischer schools on January 9th, or at Feeney Park on January 10th.....
