Frogtown COVID-19 Testing Site: No Walk-Ins Accepted At This Time |

Angels Camp, CA...No-cost testing for COVID-19 is available to anyone who would like to get one. The OptumServe COVID-19 testing site located at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds is open Tuesday-Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Testing is available to those age 12 and older. Walk-ins are not accepted at this time. People are highly encouraged to register online by going to www.lhi.care/covidtesting. People without internet access should call (888) 634-1123.

Calaveras County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team June 15th & 18th 2020 |

San Andreas, CA...On June 15, 2020, the Calaveras County Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation at a residence located in the 400 block of Blossom Lane in Railroad Flat. This location was subject to previous search warrants and had been eradicated in 2019 and in May of 2020. Deputies seized 3,068 growing marijuana plants. It was clear that the growers were using this site as a nursery to reproduce marijuana plants. No suspects were located at the scene; however, evidence was seized, and the investigation is ongoing.

More Eradications from Calaveras County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Unit |

San Andreas, CA...On June 3rd, 9th, and 12th, 2020, the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served three (3) unrelated search warrants for illegal marijuana cultivation on locations in Railroad Flat, Vallecito, and Valley Springs. On June 3rd, Deputies served a search warrant on a site located in the 1400 block of West Forty Road in Railroad Flat. Deputies seized 356 growing marijuana plants and 18 pounds of processed marijuana. The grow site showed evidence of previously being outdoors and recently moved into indoor growing rooms on the property. Additionally, one firearm was seized. No suspects have been arrested at this time, however, evidence was collected at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Rabies Positive Skunk in West Point |

West Point, CA...On June 20, 2020 Animal Services investigated a dog on skunk attack in the 2300 Block of Spink Road in West Point, CA. Three dogs killed the skunk and the owner called to report the incident. The skunk was sent to San Joaquin Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing on June 23, 2020. The test came back positive for rabies. All three dogs were current on their rabies vaccines and received rabies boosters from their veterinarian the same day as the event. The dogs have been placed on a mandatory quarantine as a precaution. If anyone believes their animal(s) may have come in contact with this skunk please contact our office at 209-754-6509.

Valley Springs, CA...On June 23, 2020 at approximately 2150 hours, Brandon D. Maggard was driving his Chevrolet Corvette on westbound SR-26, east of Quail Oaks Road. As Mr. Maggard was negotiating a curve in the roadway for westbound traffic, he allowed his vehicle to travel into the eastbound lane, where he lost control of the Chevrolet.

Attempts to Hide Drugs Prior to Entering Courthouse will Lead to Future Visits for San Andreas Man |

San Andreas, CA...On June 19, 2020, Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies were on-duty providing security at the Calaveras Superior Court, when they observed a male subject exit a vehicle and head towards the Courthouse. While walking toward the Courthouse, the male subject detoured from the main path and placed something in the landscaping before entering the building. The deputies who observed this searched the area and discovered the male subject had hidden an object in the landscaping.

National Weather Service Sacramento Says, "Dangerous Heat into Next Weekend" |

Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a heat advisory for Dangerous Heat into Next Weekend. A prolonged period of very hot temperatures is expected this week and into early next weekend, with valley and foothill highs ranging from the mid 90s to 110. Overnight temperatures will only fall to the mid 60s and 70s, offering little relief. Marine influenced areas may experience slightly cooler overnight lows, but will remain hot during the day. There will be moderate to very high heat risk during this time which may impact the general population as well as those who will be spending extended periods outdoors.
